Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer commercialmetering switchboards provide electri-cal system distribution and meteringfor shopping centers, office buildings

and other commercial multimeteringapplications.

Using standard Pow-R-Line Cconstruction and features, theseswitchboards incorporate meteringsections with tenant feeder circuitsusing meter sockets to meet localutility or customer requirements.

Product Specifications

Pow-R-Line designates a family ofdistribution switchboards incorporat-ing new design concepts that fit theever-increasing need for applications

on high short-circuit systems, whileretaining maximum standardization,safety and convenience throughoutthe line.

Front Accessibility

Front accessibility switchboards alignat the rear, enabling them to be placedagainst a wall (Cutler-Hammer TypePow-R-Line C front accessible). If themain section is deeper than others,due to physical size of the main device,the necessary off-set in line-up willoccur in front, and the main sectionwill be accessible from the side aswell as from the front. Standard front

accessible switchboards will alignat the front and rear.

Rear AccessibilityRear accessible switchboards alignat the front and the rear. Bus mainte-nance and cable entry and exit requirerear access. There are two types ofrear accessible switchboards. Bothtypes utilize the same incoming utilityand/or main structures. The first typeutilizes group mounted feeder deviceswith panel construction (Cutler-Hammer Type Pow-R-Line C rearaccessible). The second type utilizesindividually compartmentalized feederdevices with load side insulated busbar extensions (Cutler-Hammer TypePow-R-Line i

).

Standard Pow-R-Line switchboardheight is 90 inches (2286 mm).

Group Mounting

Group mounted circuit protectivedevices are an assembly of unitsmounted on a panelboard type base(panelboard construction). Units maybe molded case breakers, or FDPWfusible switches. Circuit protective

devices are accessible from the front.

A main molded case breaker or mainFDPW fusible switch, within the sizeslisted for panelboard design, can beincluded in the panel-mounted assem-bly in lieu of a separate, individuallymounted unit.

Space Only for Future DevicesGroup Mounted Construction

Where space only for future circuitprotective devices is required, theproper space and a blank filler platewill be supplied. Connections andmounting hardware are not included.

Provision for Future Devices

Where provisions for future circuit pro-tective devices are required, space forthe device, corresponding vertical bus,device connectors and the necessarymounting hardware will be supplied.

Bus Bar System

Standard bus in the switchboardsis tin-plated aluminum. Copper andsilver-plated copper are also available.

Main bus and sub-main buses

meet UL and NEMA standards fortemperature rise on all Pow-R-Lineswitchboards. Special bus densitiesare available.

Overcurrent Devices

To properly select and size overcurrentdevices for use in a switchboard, theallowable temperature rise must betaken into account as to its effect onthe tripping characteristics of thedevices in question.

Accordingly, Article 220-4(a) of theNEC

requires overcurrent devices tobe rated not less than 125% of the

continuous load they are protecting.To comply with this, an 80% deratingfactor must be used with all overcur-rent devices such as molded casebreakers and FDPW fusible switchesunless they are tested and approvedfor application at 100% of the rating.

Short Circuit Rating

Standard bus and connectors on allswitchboards are rated for use onsystems capable of producing upto 65,000 amperes rms symmetricalshort circuit current at the incomingterminals.

Increased bus short circuit ratingsequal to that of connected switchboarddevices, up to 200,000 amperes rmssymmetrical, are available in mostPow-R-Line switchboards whenapproved main devices are installed.Contact Eaton for more information.UL labeled switchboard sections aremarked with their applicable short-cir-cuit rating.

Provision for Busway Entranceand Exit

Busway connections to switchboardsections include cutout and drilling inthe top of the switchboard with riserconnections from the switchboarddevice or bus, up to the point wherethe bus duct enters the switchboard.No connections are furnished externalto the switchboard.

In all transactions involving buswayattached to switchboards, it is essen-tial that information regarding orienta-tion of the busway with respect to thefront of the switchboard be suppliedto the coordinating assembly plant.

On Pow-R-Line switchboards, solidbus bar is used to connect the busduct to the individually mounted maindevice, main or sub-main switchboard

bus, or vertical main bus of panelmounted circuit protective devicepanels. Busway fed by group mountedbranch devices are cable connected.

Aluminum riser connections arestandard. Copper- or silver-platedcopper is available as a modification.

Transitions

Transition structures are required forconnecting switchboards to the sec-ondary of power center transformer(dry or fluid filled), motor control cen-ters, and for other special switchboardconfigurations such as “L” or “U”

shaped lineups. In some application,an extra structure complete with con-nections is required; in others, whereswitchboard depth and space permit,only the connection conductors arerequired. (Refer to factory for theseapplications.)

Cutler-Hammer Integrated FacilitySwitchboards™ by Eaton Corporationutilize the modular Pow-R-Line Cgroup mounted switchboard design to

integrate traditionally separate electri-cal distribution and control equipmentinto a single space-saving factoryassembled and connected package.

The service entrance equipment canbe integrated with multiple lightingand appliance branch panelboardsinto a compact front accessible groupmounted switchboard. Where multi-ple panelboards are utilized in thesame electrical room as a conventionaldistribution switchboard or powerpanelboards, the integrated designwill significantly reduce equipmentspace requirements, as well as,reducing installation time and costs.

Other associated equipment canalso be integrated into the assembly,including dry type distribution trans-formers, time clock space, lightingcontrol, electronic controls, surgesuppression, metering and energymonitoring devices. Depending uponthe application, other user-definedequipment such as a subsystem con-trol package may also be incorporated.

Front Accessibility

Integrated Switchboards are front

accessible and align at the rear,enabling them to be placed against awall. Most switchboards align at thefront and the rear. If the main sectionis deeper than others, due to physicalsize of the main device, the necessaryoff-set in line up will occur in front,and the main section will be accessiblefrom the side as well as from the front.

Standard Switchboard Height

Switchboard height is 90 inches(2286 mm).

A limited offering of 78 inch (1981.2 mm)high equipment is available. Consult the

factory for specific applications.

Switchboard Shipping Splits

The sections can be shipped as speci-fied by the customer to meet specificrequirements.

For retrofit applications, single-pieceswitchboard structures can be shippedto facilitate movement through limitedaccess doorways, etc.

Compartmentalized Feeder Sections

Product Description

Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer Pow-R-Line i Switchboards are engineered in a newcompartmentalized design for applica-tions where a greater degree of safety

is required. A wide variety of configu-rations is possible including utilitymetering, customer metering, maindevices, branch devices, accessoriesand enclosures.

Significant safety features include:

■ Individual compartments forbranch devices — glass polyesterfor circuit breakers and steel for fus-ible switches. These compartmentshelp eliminate possible contact withthe main bus and reduce faultpropagation.

■ Three-section construction with eachsection barriered from the other.

❑ Device Section. Each device ismounted in its own compartment.

❑ Bus Bar Section. Contains bothhorizontal and vertical buses.

❑ Rear Cable Compartment. Com-pletely isolated from the bus bars.

■ Insulated copper runback. Poweris taken from the protective deviceby the insulated copper runbackthrough a standard full height glasspolyester barrier to the rear cablecompartment. This design virtuallyeliminates the possibility of acciden-tal contact with the main busesduring installation or maintenance.

Main devices are available from 400 to4000 amperes and can include MoldedCase Circuit Breakers, SPB Systems

Pow-R-Breakers, DS or DSL Low Volt-age Air Circuit Breakers, Magnum DSCircuit Breakers, FDPW fusible switchesor bolted pressure switches. Mainbuses are rated up to 6000 amperes.

Branch circuit breakers range from 150to 1200 ampere frames. When Series CCircuit Breakers are used, higher rat-ings and increased series ratings will beachieved. Branch fusible switches areavailable from 100 to 1200 amperes.

Interrupting capacities up to 200,000amperes are UL listed and the bus barsystem may be braced from a stan-dard 65,000 amperes up to a maxi-

mum 200,000 amperes.Pow-R-Line i Switchboards are ULlisted and meet all applicable require-ments of NEMA and NEC. They arerear accessible and front and rearaligned. Both Type 1 and Type 3Renclosures are available.

Integrated Monitoring Protectionand Control CommunicationsSystems

The capabilities of distribution andcontrol assemblies can be expandedby tying together multiple devices in

electrical distribution systems. Froma central location (on-site or off-site),an operator uses a personal computer(master control unit) to monitor, con-trol and communicate with compatibledevices on a distribution system.These microprocessor-based devices,designed and built by Eaton, performmonitoring, protection and controlfunctions.

Space-Saving Ground FaultTest Panels

Pow-R-Line i Switchboards canaccommodate either integral or zerosequence types of ground fault protec-tion. Depending on the specific appli-cation, a test panel can be mountedin the circuit breaker compartmentwhich may eliminate the need foran auxiliary structure.

Fusible Switches

Pow-R-Line i Switchboards have beendesigned to accommodate fusibleswitches. Safety is provided by steelcompartments that insulate eachhorizontally mounted switch fromthe vertical and main buses. As withswitchboards utilizing circuit breakers,insulated copper runbacks carry powerinto the spacious, glass polyester

barriered rear cable compartment.

UL Listed Shunt Trip andFusible Switches

Shunt trip attachments for use withground fault protection devices canbe installed on 400 to 1200 ampereType FDPW fusible switches. Bothare UL listed when the shunt trip isfactory installed.

High Durability Finish

A baked-on polyester powder coatingsystem protects all structural steelparts. It provides excellent mechanical

strength and resistance to chalkingnormally caused by the sun’s ultravioletrays and meets the salt spray require-ments of ASTM B-117.

Pow-R-Line i Quality Assurance

Final testing helps ensure that eachPow-R-Line i Switchboard performsin accordance with UL standards andcustomer specifications. Each assem-bly is shipped with a “SwitchboardVerification Report” that documentscompletion of every inspection and test.

Provisions for the Future

Future expansion provisions includeline side connectors, load side runbacks,terminals, and glass polyester com-partments and covers (for circuitbreakers). Space only for both circuitbreakers and fusible switches is alsoavailable.

market.Suitable for use as service entranceequipment, they combine utilitymetering provisions with a fused mainswitch in a single compact section thatcan also include a distribution panelfor feeder and branch circuit breakers.

Typical applications for these versatileswitchboards include small officebuildings and factories, stores, super-markets and shopping centers.

These switchboards are available ineither indoor or outdoor enclosuresmanufactured of code-gauge steelwith a durable light gray finish. Allunits are completely enclosed withfront, rear and side covers. Outdoorunits include a front hinged door.

The service section includes:

■ Main lugs mounted at the top(two #4 – 600 kcmil per phase) foroverhead feed or for use with anunderground pull section.

■ A sealable metering and CT com-partment with bussing for utility bartype CTs and two 15-inch (381.0 mm)high meter compartment doors —one with provisions for meter socket

and test block, one blank. (Metersocket is ordered separately.)

■ A 400 or 600 ampere T-Typefused main switch with either loadlugs (same as main lugs) or withconnections to a factory installeddistribution panel.

Underground pull sections are avail-able with lug landing kits providingstuds for incoming cables per EUSERCstandards and two #4 – 600 kcmil lugsper phase for cable connection to theservice section.

Distribution panels can be included for240 Vac maximum (1-phase 3-wire or3-phase 4-wire) or for 480Y/277 Vac(3-phase 4-wire). The 240 volt panelshave provisions for four Type ED 225ampere frame circuit breakers and 24

poles of Type BAB 100 ampere framecircuit breakers. The 480Y/277 voltpanel has provisions for four Type FD225 ampere frame circuit breakersand 24 poles of Type GHB 100 ampereframe circuit breakers. The bolt-on typecircuit breakers are ordered separately.

For applications that require the loadcircuit conductors to exit at the top, aloadside wireway compartment is avail-able that bolts to the service section.

Standard switchboards include two15-inch (381.0 mm) high meter com-partment doors, one with meter socketprovisions and one blank. For other

arrangements, accessory units areavailable. Check utility requirements.


Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer Instant ServiceSwitchboards are listed by Under-writers Laboratories and comply withall applicable industry standards.

These switchboards meet EUSERC stan-dards as well as other local utility codes.

Seismic Qualified

Cutler-Hammer Instant Service Switch-boards are seismically tested, seismi-

cally qualified, and exceed requirementsof both the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and the California Building Code(CBC) for all seismic zones.

Product Description

Eaton's Cutler-Hammer Roll-upGenerator Termination Boxes (RUGTB)are designed as an intermediate termi-nation cabinet between a temporary,portable roll-up generator and thefacility being served. The RUGTB isdesigned for permanent installation

and is secured to a concrete padwith bolts.

The RUGTB includes line terminationsfor the temporary connection of theportable generator and permanentconnections on the load side to thesecondary disconnect in the facilitywhich is interlocked with the mainovercurrent device in a mannerthat ensures that only one (either theservice main or the generator main)can be energized at any one time.The conductors and conduits mustbe sized and suitable for carrying theload ratings marked on the equipmentper the National Electrical Code.

Standards and Ratings

■ UL 1773 listed — Termination Boxes.

■ 600 Vac maximum.

■ Amperage ratings: 800, 1200, 1600,2000 and 2500.

■ Assembly short circuit rating: 25,000amperes rms symmetrical.

■ Marked “Suitable for use on theline side of service equipment” perUL 1773.

Features

EnclosureThe enclosure is free-standing withfeet on the bottom providing accessto the cable connections for temporaryroll-up generator terminations. Theenclosure is made from code gauge

steel and is suitable for either outdooror indoor installation (Type 3R con-struction). The enclosure is powdercoat painted ANSI 61 gray. Eachenclosure houses line and load phase,neutral and ground connections.Access is provided at the bottom ofthe enclosure for both the temporaryconnections to the roll-up generatorand permanent connections tothe facility's generator overcurrentdisconnecting means. The permanentconnection section at the bottom ofthe enclosure contains a fixed mount-ing plate. The temporary generatorconnection to the RUGTB contains ahinged cover that allows access to theenclosure for generator conductors.

The enclosure utilizes feet that raisethe termination compartment off fin-ished grade by 18-inches (457.2 mm).Enclosure feet have provisions foranchoring the RUGTB. Anchor boltsare to secure the RUGTB and shallbe encased in a concrete pad by theinstaller in a manner that is suitableas a permanent base for the unit.A template for anchor bolt installationis available from the manufacturer.

The enclosure contains a sturdy,lockable, hinged door for access tothe termination compartment by quali-fied personnel as described in NFPA70E and the National Electrical Code.Feeder conductor entry is provided

in the bottom of the enclosure for theline side (generator). A hinged bottomplate is provided on the line sidefor access to line terminations. Thepermanent load connections (feedingto the facility overcurrent device)exit the enclosure from the bottom.

Terminations

All Roll-up Generator TerminationBoxes contain a termination/luglanding for three phases and neutralplus ground. Line termination optionsinclude mechanical lugs, one-holeand two-hole compression lugs,one-hole and two-hole compression

lug provisions and quick disconnect.

Lug provisions are provided withbolt configurations as described in thecatalog data on the following pages.Where lug provisions are ordered,lugs are supplied by others.
