    All praises are for Almighty Allah for guiding me in hardships and all respects

    for Holy Prophet (PBUH) for showing me the light of truth and honesty. I am

    thankful to Ms. Mehwish (Lecturer ICUP) under her guidelines I was able to complete

    this Internship Report and she always helped me during the extensive work of the

    project. I am also thankful to the respondents who gave me their precious time for the

    interviews.

    I extend my acknowledgement to Mr.Zafar Ali Shah (AVP) who helped and

    gave me all pertinent information in such a way that we did not feel any difficulty to

    understand the overall operation of the NBP that will leads to complete the internship

    report on the NBP Main Cantt Branch successfully.

    For the completion of our project I am indebted to plenty of people for their

    very sincere cooperation that they extended to me at various stages. First and foremost

    problem that every student faces is the selection of a Report. I am very thankful to my

    supervisor Mr. MUHAMMAD ISMAIL for helping me out in time of confusion.

    During our course and the execution of my project, I had a real chance to learn from

    his vast experience and immense knowledge.

    I am very thankful to staff members of National Bank of Pakistan Peshawar Cantt

    Main Branch who guided me and provided me valuable information regarding to my

    Executive Summary

    Banks play an important role in the economic development of a country. If the

    banking system is unorganized and inefficient it stops the process of development. In

    Pakistan, the banking system is very well organized. The State Bank of Pakistan

    established on July 1, 1948 stands at the apex and is responsible for the operation of

    the banking system in Pakistan. The other banks, which form the banking structure in

    Pakistan, are playing an active role in the economic development of the country.

    National bank of Pakistan was established under the National bank of Pakistan

    ordinance 1949. The primary objective of the setting of NBP was the purchase of jute

    from the growers in the former East Pakistan and also to perform the commercial

    banking functions in the country. The bank is also authorized to act as an agent and

    trustee of State bank where the State bank of Pakistan (SBP) has no branches. The

    bank therefore performs dual responsibility, one as commercial bank in its own right

    and at the same time a trustee of business finance. NBP is the largest commercial

    bank of the country in terms of its deposit base. It was established in 1949 and now

    has an efficient network of branches through out the country. The bank is providing

    different kinds of services and products to its customers. The main purpose of the

    study is that "How N.BP Facilitate The Government Activities On Behalf Of State

    Bank". The Project is composed of information obtained from interviews,

    observations, reference books, and several annual reports of the organization etc. NBP

    has a vast network of 1189 branches and is also operating in 20 countries of the

    world. Being an agent of the Govt. of Pakistan, NBP has contributed and is

    contributing significantly to the development of financial sector of the country. The

    mission and values of NBP is to be recognized in the market place by

    Institutionalizing a merit & performance culture, Creating a powerful & distinctive

    brand identity, Achieving top-tier financial performance, and Adopting & living out

    the core values The objectives of NBP are to earn profit, promote and boost banking

    sector in Pakistan and provide employment opportunities to the citizens of Pakistan.

    The products and schemes of NBP are Advance Salary scheme, Saibaan Housing

    Scheme. President Rozgar Scheme, NBP Mahana Amadani Certificate, Western

    Union money transfer, NBP Auto Cash ATM, Rupee Travelers Cheques, and NIDA

    etc.
