In speaking of their arrival theChronicle says. "The arrival of thesteamer Mariposa on Tuesdaybrought to this port the

tive musicians, among whom it wasreported that the loathsome diseaseof leprosy existed. This is theKind's own military band and num-

bers thirty-tw- o in . Just beforeleaving the island two of them werefound to be too sick to make thevoyage, but what the cause of theirsickness was has not been ascer-tained. On leaving Honolulu theypassed through an inspection by theQuarantine Uillccr ana wcro pro-

ings were all crowded with peoplethey were loudly cheered, and, onreaching the Baldwin, they receiveda perfect ovation. At the perfor-mance at Woodwaid's Gar-dens some 15,000 people werepresent and the Hawaiianband was encored for every num-ber they performed, twice the' sangthe Hawaiian National Anthemwhich was well received. At thePalace Hotel upon one occasion theChicago band was playing while ourboys were playing at the GrandHotel, subsequently the Hawaiianswent to the Palace and receivedmore than twice as much applauseand cheering as their friendly op-

ponents.

An Account of her Trial Trip.

Yesterday the new iron steamshipKinau, built by the Cramps for inter-islan- d

service among the SandwichIslands, made a successful trial tripdown the Delaware River to tlieEdgm,oor Ironworks, near Wilming-ton, Del., and returned to the ship-yard.
