FREE Family Fun! PARADE SATURDAY Beginning at 11 am “Harlan Newspapers” Lori Christensen Tivoli Fest Opening Ceremonies will be held at the Danish Windmill at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 27. With the help of the local Color Guard, the Tivoli King and Queen will raise the Danish and American flags to the strains of the U.S. and Danish national anthems. Mayor Stan Jens, and Tivoli chairperson Dustin Petersen, will conduct the ceremonies. The Mill to Mermaid Fun Run/Walk (‘Rod Hoegh Memorial Run’ in memory of the originator of this fun run) The 5K run will end in Kimballton at the Little Mermaid fountain. T-shirts will be given to the winners in each age division. Juice and M & M’s will also be available for all participants. All ages are welcome, so come and join in the fun whether you are walking, running or pushing a stroller! Registration is from 7:30-8 am at the former Danish Inn. The fee is $5.00 per person for ages 12 and older. Call Charley Merrill at 660-247-1367 with questions. Tour the historic 1848 Danish Windmill celebrating 41 years in America. This majestic mill was built in 1848 in Nørre Snede, Denmark, and brought to America in 1975. It was rebuilt in Elk Horn by community volunteers to honor the area’s strong Danish heritage. Be sure to visit the VikingHjem, Morning Star Chapel, and now the Ebeltoft Village. The Mill is under-going a large restoration project and part of Tivoli Fest proceeds will go to this project.

The Danish Windmill is hosting the 9th annual Tour de Tivoli Bike Ride Sunday, May 28. Registration for this 26 mile bike ride begins at 8 am on the Danish Windmill grounds, 4038 Main Street. Plenty of parking. Restrooms available inside the Windmill. After registering and before the ride begins, enjoy an Æbleskiver breakfast at the Elk Horn Fire Station by using your Free Meal Voucher or take a tour or shop at the Windmill. Don’t forget to use your Windmill coupon. The Tour ends back in Elk Horn. The $35 registration fee includes a T-shirt, refreshments, Æbleskiver meal, and Tivoli Fest entertainment. ($20 registration excludes the t-shirt)
