Design studio CONTRAFORMA was founded in 2000. Under the philosophy that "every thing can surprise you, every shape can be multifunctional, everysolution can be unique", it unites a new generation of young, creative and already experienced Lithuanian designers and architects.

Professional Lithuanian designers have become known for designing many successful commercial and domestic furniture collections. Having participated in anumber of international exhibitions CONTRAFORMA design is well known worldwide. The leading position of CONTRAFORMA designers in their field isemphasised by the awards we are proud to have received including the world famous red dot design award.

Although operating principally as a design consultancy for furniture and interior design, the company also designs and produces a wide range of excusivefurniture. Limited editions of these products are produced in close cooperation with local manufacturers.

chair JULYdesign — Zilvinas Stankevicius2006

The chair JULY was created from scraps of different length, whichare glued together using a special press and a final outlook isobtained by hand-made dressing.The softwood cut-offs are collected from local window-framemanufacturer. The designer uses unwanted scraps of timber andwith a little creative alchemy turn them into a pretty slick chair.The recycled material is used as a replacement for manyconventional materials, without chopping down trees or otherwiseusing virgin materials.This lightweight and eco-friendly piece of furniture is highly suitablefor a dining-room.

The light is always associated with warmth and softness. That'sbecause the idea to make light cover from fabric and also give it ashape of a pillow was transformed into the light PILLOW. The lightcan be placed on the floor, hanged on the wall or used as achandelier. Surprising shape with the light inside makes it differentfrom other lamps.The light cover is removable, so it is easy to wash it. The covers areavailable in different colours, also with custom prints.

The product distinguishes with combined innovative and traditionalmaterials: the frame is made of powder coated, laser-cut metalcombined with the natural old solid wood - a touch of purest nature.None the less interesting is the shape - a stylistic mix of decades.An eclectic is brought to a delicate purity. MW is an allusion toantiquity and at the same time it is obviously an object ofcontemporary design. It comes with a real story of one hundredyears original solid wood which at those times was a part of awooden Lithuanian house.

The cabinet MW is available with drawers and doors.

Contemporary design with an allusion to romanticism - this is theresult of the perfect union of perforated and painted steel.
