From Coast to Coast: Bringing the RSN Community Together Dear RSN Summit Attendee,

Thank you for joining us today for this important first-ever event: the RSN Summit! The RSN Summit was created to help meet the information and networking needs of

arguably the most important part of the sports-TV industry: the regional sports network. During the past three decades, regional sports networks have grown in stature and, in many ways, are the lifeblood of local sports across the nation. They provide a tremendous amount of economic fuel to professional sports franchises, colleges, and even high schools — while providing fans with the local flavor they demand.

So why the RSN Summit? Because regional sports networks face different challenges than national networks face. On the regional level, every dollar has to stretch as far as it can, and that often spurs innovative thinking in event production, content creation, and distribution. Perhaps the biggest challenge is simply meeting the needs of sports fans who want every production, no matter how small, to look and feel like a top-flight national broadcast.

Today’s event will cover it all, including two great keynotes about the RSN business and the future of production: Jeff Krolik, president of Fox Sports Regional Networks, and David Preschlack, president of NBC Sports Regional Networks. Thanks to both Jeff and David for joining us today. Be sure to catch both conversations.

We also offer plenty of discussions concerning the future of RSN programming and production. You’ll learn how to get the most out of your resources, how to use IP and non-tra-ditional backhaul technologies, pre/postgame-coverage techniques, how to create a compel-ling web presence, and much more. And, of course, please make sure to visit the Technology Showcase exhibits to check out the latest gear and solutions for RSN production.

Besides offering a wealth of informational sessions, today’s program provides plenty of networking opportunities. Throughout today’s event, we encourage you to share ideas and network with as many of your RSN peers and technology vendors as possible. Though covering drastically different regions of the country, many of you face the same day-to-day challenges and opportunities. Use this setting as a valuable opportunity to learn from one another, build relationships, and make your network’s product the very best that it can be.

Once again, thank you for joining us today. We realize that the RSN world never really slows down, and we appreciate your taking part in what we hope will become an annual tradition.

Sincerely, Ken Kerschbaumer, Executive Director, Editorial, SVG
