Deputy SuperintendentLeslie Haack
Deputy Superintendent
Leslie Haack serves as the Deputy Superintendent for Katy ISD and oversees
School Leadership and Support for 68 campuses and facilities, as well as
district-wide Athletics and Operations. Leslie began her public school career
in 1985 as the financial clerk at Mayde Creek High School in Katy ISD. After
living out of state for several years, she returned to the District in 1998 as a
teacher and assistant coach at Taylor High School. The following year, Leslie
transferred to Cinco Ranch High School where she taught and coached for
two years prior to being named Assistant Principal in 2001. Just three years
later, she was promoted to Associate Principal at Morton Ranch High School.
In 2008, Leslie was named Sealy High School principal in Sealy ISD and
served in that capacity for one year prior to accepting the principal position
in Lamar CISD. While serving in Lamar CISD, she was named Assistant
Superintendent for Secondary Education, and three years later, was
promoted to Deputy Superintendent for Support Services.

Assistant Superintendentfor OperationsTed Vierling
Assistant Superintendent for Operations
Mr. Ted Vierling serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Operations,
moving from his role as Principal at Seven Lakes High School. Mr. Vierling
has 20 years of experience in Katy ISD. His service includes four years of
teaching and two years serving as an assistant principal at Mayde Creek High
School, and two years as an assistant principal followed by five years as the
principal at Beckendorff Junior High. For the past seven years, he has served
as the principal at Seven Lakes High School.
Mr. Vierling is a graduate of Katy High School. He holds a Bachelor of
Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education Leadership
from the University of Houston.

Mark began his career 40 years ago in Spring Branch ISD. Prior to joining Katy ISD, Mark
worked for Tomball ISD. His experience covers Maintenance, Operations, and Construction.
Mission
The Maintenance & Operations Department will be proactive in providing the highest quality
grounds, maintenance and custodial services within our resources. We will strive to be
recognized as environmental stewards through our utility conservation initiatives, recycling
programs and our nationally recognized Indoor Air Quality program.

geographical boundaries of Katy ISD that is controlled
by the Katy ISD Board of Trustees
Peace officers employed by the District have the
same authority, powers, privileges, and immunities as
bestowed on all Texas peace officers while on or off
duty

Peace Officer Licensing
All commissioned officers are licensed by the Texas
Commission on Law Enforcement
Four levels of certifications: Basic, Intermediate,
Advanced, and Master
Many of our officers are Master Peace Officers
