THE DECISION MAKERS: This year’s draft will be the first for the Titans under Reinfeldt, who was hired by team owner K.S. “Bud” Adams on February 12. Reinfeldt spent the majority of his professional playing career with the team, serving as a safety with the Oilers from 1976-83. He since has worked for the L.A. Raiders, Green Bay Packers and most recently the Seattle Seahawks, where he became the Vice President of Football Administration. Fisher is entering his 13th full season as head coach of the Titans. THE 19TH SELECTION: The Titans were one of eight teams to finish 2006 with an 8-8 record. However, they select next-to-last out of the group and 19th overall in the first round due to their higher 2006 strength of schedule (.570) than the other 8-8 teams. The New York Giants select last out of the 8-8 group (20th overall) due to their playoff appearance. In each round, teams with identical records rotate up in the order, meaning the Titans hold the 18th pick in the second round, 17th pick in the third round, etc. The 19th selection is the lowest the Titans have picked since 2004, when they origi- nally had the 27th selection but traded it to Houston for additional choices. TEN TOTAL PICKS: Barring a trade in which the Titans deal away picks, the Titans will have at least 10 selections for the third consecutive year. In the past three seasons, the Titans had an NFL- high 34 total draft picks, taking 13 players in 2004, 11 in 2005 and 10 in 2006. Currently, 28 of those 34 players were still on the roster. Only one player from the past two drafts is no longer with the club (Damien Nash, fifth round in 2005).

the following day. The Titans hold one pick in each of the first three rounds, the fifth round

and the seventh round. They have two selections in the fourth round and three in the sixth

round.

minute information on the Titans’ selections and press conferences with General Manager

Mike Reinfeldt, Head Coach Jeff Fisher and draftees. Viewers can watch the draft in its

entirety on NFL Network and ESPN. Radio listeners can tune to one of 80-plus stations on

the Titans Radio Network, including flagship 103.3 WKDF in Nashville, for updates during

the draft. The flagship’s sister station, 104.5 The Zone, will feature special draft program-

ming from Titans Radio throughout the weekend.

THE DECISION MAKERS:

This year’s draft will be the first for the Titans under Reinfeldt, who was hired by team

owner K.S. “Bud” Adams on February 12. Reinfeldt spent the majority of his professional

playing career with the team, serving as a safety with the Oilers from 1976-83. He since

has worked for the L.A. Raiders, Green Bay Packers and most recently the Seattle

Seahawks, where he became the Vice President of Football Administration.

Fisher is entering his 13th full season as head coach of the Titans. His tenure is the

longest in the NFL among head coaches with their current teams. With a 110-96 career

record, he holds the franchise record for wins by a head coach.

THE 19TH SELECTION:

The Titans were one of eight teams to finish 2006 with an 8-8 record. However, they

select next-to-last out of the group and 19th overall in the first round due to their higher 2006

strength of schedule (.570) than the other 8-8 teams. The New York Giants select last out

of the 8-8 group (20th overall) due to their playoff appearance. In each round, teams with

identical records rotate up in the order, meaning the Titans hold the 18th pick in the second

round, 17th pick in the third round, etc.

The 19th selection is the lowest the Titans have picked since 2004, when they origi-

nally had the 27th selection but traded it to Houston for additional choices.

TEN TOTAL PICKS:

Barring a trade in which the Titans deal away picks, the Titans will have at least 10

selections for the third consecutive year. In the past three seasons, the Titans had an NFL-

high 34 total draft picks, taking 13 players in 2004, 11 in 2005 and 10 in 2006. Currently,

28 of those 34 players were still on the roster. Only one player from the past two drafts is

TITANS DRAFT HEADQUARTERS

While the NFL will be conducting the draft from New York, the Titans will be situated in

Nashville at Baptist Sports Park, which is located in MetroCenter. There the media will have

access to NFL Network and ESPN coverage and information on all of the team’s draft selec-

tions. Typically after each pick, Head Coach Jeff Fisher and a Titans scout or assistant

coach will be made available to answer questions in the Baptist Sports Park auditorium.

Additionally, the media will be placed on a conference call with each of the team’s picks. At

the conclusion of the draft on both Saturday and Sunday, General Manager Mike Reinfeldt

will be available to reporters. The team also plans to bring their top selection to team head-

quarters to meet with reporters on either Saturday or Sunday evening.

PRE-DRAFT PRESS CONFERENCE

The Titans will hold a pre-draft press conference on Thursday, April 26 in the Baptist

Sports Park auditorium. General Manager Mike Reinfeldt will be on hand to discuss the

draft along with other football personnel.

An exact time will be announced later.

RECENT TITANS DRAFT HISTORY

QUICK IMPACTS:

The Titans have received major contributions from their past two drafts. Of the 11 play-

ers chosen in 2005, six were fulltime starters in 2006, one from each round other than the

fifth: cornerbacks Pacman Jones (first round) and Reynaldo Hill (seventh), tackles

Michael Roos (second) and David Stewart (fourth), wide receiver Brandon Jones (third),

and tight end Bo Scaife (sixth).

What the team lacked in numbers of starters from the 2006 draft, it compensated with

impact. Quarterback Vince Young was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, while others

had key roles as reserves, such as nickel defensive back Cortland Finnegan (seventh

round), White and Tulloch.

Jones and Young, in particular, had a major impact among recent draft picks in revers-

ing the team’s fortunes in 2006. Young went 8-5 as a starter, passed for 2,199 yards and

set a modern-day record for rookie quarterbacks with 552 rushing yards. Jones led the NFL

with a 12.9-yard punt return average and was second on the club with four interceptions.

He scored four total touchdowns in 2006, tying Chicago’s Devin Hester for the NFL lead with

three touchdowns on punt returns and adding one score on an interception return.

RECENT FIRST-ROUNDERS:

Since 1995, Jeff Fisher’s first full season as head coach, the Titans have used their 10

first-round draft picks on quarterback Steve McNair (1995), running back Eddie George

(1996), defensive end Kenny Holmes (1997), wide receiver Kevin Dyson (1998), defen-

sive end Jevon Kearse (1999), linebacker Keith Bulluck (2000), defensive tackle Albert

Haynesworth (2002), cornerback Andre Woolfolk (2003), Jones (2005) and Young

(2006). Twice in that time period (2001 and 2004), the Titans have not had a first-round

selection as a result of trades.

THE DRAFT AND TRADES:

Due to three previous trades, the Titans in 2007 have three more picks than their stan-

dard allotment of seven. On the second day of the 2006 draft, they traded a seventh-round

pick to the Indianapolis Colts for a sixth-round pick in 2007. In June 2006, the Titans

received an additional fourth-round choice when they dealt quarterback Steve McNair to

the Baltimore Ravens. Then, in September, they acquired a sixth-round pick from the San

Diego Chargers in exchange for quarterback Billy Volek.

The Titans have been involved in a draft-day trade in each of the last five drafts. They

traded first-day draft choices (first, second or third round) for additional picks in 2002, 2004,

2005 and 2006. In 2003, they used additional picks to trade up on the second day of the

draft to select safety Donnie Nickey in the fifth round. Last year, they traded down in the

second round to pick up an additional fourth-rounder from Philadelphia. They still managed

to select running back LenDale White with their eventual second-round pick and used the

fourth-round selection on linebacker Stephen Tulloch.

SELECTING OFFENSE OR DEFENSE FIRST

Since its initial draft as a charter member of the American Football League in 1960, the

Titans organization has made 42 first-round selections, using that pick on an offensive play-

er 23 times and on defense 19 times. On offense, running backs lead the list, having been

chosen seven times in the first round, three of which were Heisman Trophy winners: Billy

Cannon (1960), Earl Campbell (1978) and Eddie George (1996).

On the defensive side of the ball, linebackers have been selected seven times by the

Titans in the first round. Robert Brazile (1975), Lamar Lathon (1990) and Keith Bulluck

(2000) headline the linebackers chosen. A complete breakdown of Tennessee's first round

selections follows below.

Breakdown of Titans' All-Time First-Round Picks by Position:

Offense 23 Defense 19

Running Back 7 Linebacker 7

Tackle 4 Defensive Tackle 4

Quarterback 4 Defensive End 5

Wide Receiver 2 Cornerback 3

Guard 4

Tight End 2

Center 0

In six of the last eight drafts, Tennessee has chosen a defensive player with its first

overall pick: Pacman Jones (2005), Andre Woolfolk (2003), Albert Haynesworth (2002),

Andre Dyson (second round in 2001), Keith Bulluck (2000) and Jevon Kearse (1999). The

lone exceptions are 2004, when they chose TE Ben Troupe with their first pick (second

round) and 2006, when they selected quarterback Vince Young in the first round.

WHO’S IN NEW YORK?

Representatives of all 32 NFL clubs will be present at Radio City Music Hall in New

York. The representatives are in constant phone contact with their clubs, who instruct the

representatives to turn in a card with the selected player’s name on it.

The Titans are represented by Frank Fitzgerald Sr., who has enjoyed a decades-long

association with the NFL and has had a relationship with the Titans franchise since the early

1990s. Also present are his son, Frank Fitzgerald Jr., and Harry Pritts. Frank Sr. and his

wife, Adelaide, reside in Larchmont, N.Y.

ROUND 1 TRADES

Always a possibility in the draft is a trade to move up or down in the draft. In the pre-

vious 20 drafts by the franchise (1987-06), the Titans have been involved in 10 trades

involving their first-round pick. The team has traded up in the first round twice in that time

period to select the player they wanted; more commonly, they have traded down in the first

round or out of the first round six times. There have been two occasions since 1987 when

they traded their first-round pick for a player -- DE Lee Williams in 1992 and DE Kevin Carter

in 2001.

Since 1995, the Titans have been involved in a first-round trade five times -- 1996,

1997, 2001, 2002 and 2004.

First-round trades by the Titans since 1995:

Original Trade Compensation

Year Round (overall) With Round (overall--player selected)

2004 1 (27), 5 (159) HOU 2 (40--TE Ben Troupe), 3 (71--DT Randy Starks),

4 (103--DE Bo Schobel), 5 (138--G Jacob Bell)

2002 1 (14) NYG 1 (15--DT Albert Haynesworth), 4 (115--CB Tony

2001 1 (29) STL DE Kevin Carter

1997 1 (13), 4 (110) KC 1 (18--Kenny Holmes), 3 (81--T Scott Sanderson),

4 (116--traded), 6 (181--LB Dennis Stallings)

1996 1 (9) OAK 1 (17--traded*), 2 (48--G Jason Layman), 4 (109--

T Jon Runyan)

* In 1996, the Titans traded down from ninth to 17th and then traded with Seattle back up

to 14th to select RB Eddie George.

SECOND-DAY SELECTIONS

The Titans will enter the draft with seven selections on the second day of the draft,

when teams will make their picks in Rounds 4-7. The Titans have found through recent

years a number of “hidden gems” that have become productive players and starters on the

second day of the draft. Since 1995, the franchise has found 19 regular starters through

the years with second day selections, including three players who have been to the Pro

Bowl.

Some of the players who have excelled for the Titans after being selected on the sec-

ond day of the draft: DT Gary Walker (fifth round in 1995), T Jon Runyan (fourth round in

1996), WR Derrick Mason (fourth round in 1997), G Benji Olson (fifth round in 1998), CB

Donald Mitchell (fourth round in 1999), LB Peter Sirmon (fourth round in 2000), WR

Justin McCareins (fourth round in 2001), C Justin Hartwig (sixth round in 2002), DT Rien

Long (fourth round in 2003), G/T Jacob Bell (fifth round in 2004), T David Stewart (fourth

round in 2005), TE Bo Scaife (sixth round in 2006), CB Reynaldo Hill (seventh round in

2005) and CB Cortland Finnegan (seventh round in 2006).

TITANS ROSTER BY ROUND

Of the 71 players currently on the Titans roster, 34

were originally drafted by the Titans. An additional 16

players were drafted by other clubs. The Titans have

a total of 21 players that were signed as undrafted free

UNDRAFTED SUCCESS

At the conclusion of Round 7 of the draft, the TItans personnel department remains at

work. At that point, General Manager Mike Reinfeldt and his staff contact players the team

will sign as undrafted free agents.

Last year, the Titans announced the signing of 23 undrafted free agents in the days

immediately following the draft. In the last six years, a minumum of 20 undrafted free agent

signings have been announced the day after the draft -- 22 in 2001, 20 in 2002, 34 in 2003,

27 in 2004, 36 in 2005 and 23 in 2006.

Veteran players currently on the Titans roster who originally entered the NFL as

undrafted free agents include LS Ken Amato, K Rob Bironas, DT Tony Brown, DE Sean

Conover, FB Ahmard Hall (entered supplemental draft), DE Josh Savage, TE Cooper

Wallace and LB LeVar Woods.

DOUBLE-DIGIT SELECTIONS

For the fourth consecutive draft and the sixth draft in the last eight years, the Titans

have a possibility of selecting 10 or more players in the seven-round draft. Due to three

picks acquired in trades, the Titans enter the 2006 draft with 10 selections.

During the second day of the draft in 2006, the Titans traded a seventh-round selec-

tion to the Indianapolis Colts for a sixth-round pick in 2007. The Titans added an extra

fourth-round pick by trading Steve McNair to the Baltimore Ravens and picked up another

sixth-round choice from the San Diego Chargers for Billy Volek.

Since the draft went to seven rounds in 1994, the most picks the team has had was

13 in 2004. The fewest choices they have had was six in 2003. Last year they had 10

selections.

TITANS HIRE MIKE REINFELDT AS GM

On February 12, the Titans hired former Oilers all-pro safety Mike Reinfeldt as the

team’s new general manager. Reinfeldt joins the Titans after spending seven seasons with

the Seattle Seahawks.

Within his first two months at his new job, Reinfeldt made several moves to strengthen

the team’s roster. He signed three unrestricted free agents -- CB Nick Harper

(Indianapolis), WR Justin Gage (Chicago) and S Bryan Scott (New Orleans) -- and signed

restricted free agent LB Ryan Fowler from the Dallas Cowboys. Reinfeldt also worked to

re-sign several of the team’s own free agents, including defensive tackle Rien Long and

quarterback Kerry Collins.

Reinfeldt’s resume includes 21 years of experience as a front office executive and

another eight as an NFL player. In his 14 years split between Seattle and Green Bay, the

teams he was associated with won a combined six division titles, made eight playoff appear-

ances, four NFC Championship game appearances, three Super Bowl appearances, one

world title (1996), amassed 11 winning seasons and 131 regular season wins.

In Seattle, Reinfeldt last held the title of Vice President of Football Administration and

was responsible for player contract negotiations, salary cap management, player evalua-

tions and numerous aspects of the day-to-day football operations. In eight seasons at Green

Bay, he served a number of roles, including Chief Financial Officer for three years (1991-

93) and adding the title of VP of Administration from 1994-98. Reinfeldt was instrumental in

bringing general manager Ron Wolf to the Packers in 1991. When Mike Holmgren left the

Packers for Seattle, he handpicked Reinfeldt to join him with the Seahawks.

Reinfeldt was a safety for the Oilers franchise from 1976-83, earning Pro Bowl and All-

Pro honors in 1979. He ranks seventh on the club’s career interception list with 26 and

matched the team record for interceptions in a season with 12 in 1979. Reinfeldt started 102

consecutive games as the franchise reached the height of the “Luv Ya Blue” era and the

team advanced to two AFC Championship games. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free

agent out of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, originally signing with the Oakland

Raiders and playing in two games before being cut and signed by the Oilers.

Before joining the Packers in 1991, Reinfeldt spent three years (1988-90) at the

University of Southern California as the associate athletic director and spent another three

years (1985-88) with the L.A. Raiders as the Chief Financial Officer. He earned an MBA in

management and finance at Houston Baptist University.
