What is Tiscon ReadyBuild ?

Tiscon ReadyBuild is a downstream service brand that specializes in providing customised solutions for all the construction needs that are relevant to rebars.

Project Details

A company with over 15 years’ of experience in offering turnkey solutions for construction using a dedicated team of architects . The company mainly deals with projects related to construction of luxury residential apartments/villas and a few commercial buildings in Bengaluru.

The Challenge - 1 The company was in the construction process of various residential

apartment projects, covering a total area of around 6 lakh sq ft with a total project value of Rs. 180 Crore.

The total steel consumption for the projects was estimated at 4000 tonnes and one of the suppliers was Tata Steel with 100% Cut and Bend. However they were facing certain challenges, such as space constraints in one of the projects making it difficult for the company to maintain inventory.

The Challenge - 2 The company initially found value in cut length for saving wastage.

However, space constraints at the project site resulted in restrictions on cutting and bending of material at night or at another location.

Subsequently, issues were raised regarding the quality of construction as well. The company’s customers were more appreciative of ‘clean space’ onsite.

The Tiscon ReadyBuild Solution - 1• The customer decided to go for Cut and Bend (CAB) rebars from Tata

Tiscon and their entire requirement of CAB was delivered onsite as a result of bulk purchase. However, this in turn resulted in challenges of storing material and incidences of pilferage.

• The next challenge was segregating CAB as large volumes were

required and these were not supplied in a kit. Even though a few problems could not be solved, Tata Tiscon CAB ended up saving money for the customer and also addressed the majority of problems pertaining to project construction.

The Tiscon ReadyBuild Solution - 2• The original 5% gross wastage due to scrap was brought down to 0% due

to Cut and Bend which could save up to Rs. 1000 per tonne. Labour cost went down too bringing a saving of around 40% to the customer.

• The overhead requirement originally was five hutments for labour at the project site along with additional charges for water and power. Due to CAB, these overheads were reduced as well.

‘We are using Tata Steel (Tiscon) Grade Fe 500D of cut lengths and Cut and Bend rebars for our projects in Bengaluru till date. We have adopted this kind of material for some of our projects, due to space constraints, to avoid wastage and save time on bar bending and labour, etc.’
