Namibia – Endless Horizons Climb the highest sand dunes in the world. De- scend to the floor of the deepest canyon in Af- rica. Immerse yourself in the past at one of the Africa‘s richest rock art sites, and watch wildlife shimmer against one of the most spectacular pans on earth. Explore the oldest, driest desert in the world and take time to listen to the silen- ce and to your soul. The ruggedness of the Namibian landscape has obviously done nothing to deter both flora and fauna from adapting and thriving. Here, the very act of survival can sometimes be an art. The she- ar abundance and variety of wildlife of all sizes is staggering. Namibia is the only country in the world where large numbers of rare and endangered wildlife are translocated from national parks to open communal land. This commitment to protecting wildlife is especially important given the coun- try‘s remarkable diversity of species and high level of endemism. Also, Namibia is home to vibrant cities where people are excited about the future, while remai- ning deeply connected to their rich, cultural past. A stable, democratic government, infrastructure that allows guests to move confidently off the beaten path and endless horizons that beckon you to explore define this country and its people. This is Namibia, where you are sure to find ad- venture, and you may just find yourself. Before embarking on your Namibia journey, kindly ensure that your passport is valid and will be valid for another six months after your planned return date. Also make sure about visa requirements, if any. For a stay of up to 90 days, the citizens of the following countries (amongst others) do not need a tourist visa, as your return air ticket and valid passport will suffice: B, DK, DE, USA, FIN, F, IS, IRL, IT, L, FL, CDN, CH, NZ, NL, N, A, P, RUS, E, S, UA, UK, BY. For citizens of other countries who are not excluded from visa regulations, kindly obtain the correct information from the Namibian embassy in your country. A child‘s passport should be accompanied by a photo if the child is older than 3 years and should also remain valid for 6 months after the planned return date. There are flights practically every day between Europe and Windhoek. We would gladly help you with the bookings. If you wish, we could book a charter flight on your behalf within Namibia, for example to transport you to Kambaku Lodge and back to Windhoek.

The monetary unit is the Namibia Dollar (NAD). It is linked in a ratio of 1:1 to the South African Rand. You are only allowed to take up to N$500 cash into the country. There is no limit on foreign currencies. With your ATM card you can withdraw Namibian dollars at all ATMs, provided your card has the Maestro function. International credit cards can be used in most of the hotels and shops.

At Kambaku, you can pay with Euro, US$ or with Namibian dollars (N$). We also accept Visa and Eurocard credit cards. Please note that the exchange rate for foreign currencies at Kambaku is 4% higher than the rate of your credit card company.

Unless otherwise indicated, the tap water is of drinking water quality.

Should you require a rental car before or after your visit to Kambaku, we will reserve one to your taste.

he pleasant, mostly dry climate permits travelling all year round. The winter days (May until September) are mild and warm during the day, but it can get cold at night. The summer (October until April) can be very hot with comfortable night-time temperatures.

For both summer and winter we recommend light summer clothing, so-lid footwear, sunglasses, sun and lip protection. In the winter (as well as during the summer along the coast) you should remember for the early mornings and evenings a warm pullover or jacket and gloves. In Namibia you drive on the left hand side. Due to the low inci-dence of traffic and the excellent signposting it is quite easy to find your way around. However, be on the alert for wild animals crossing the roads and drive slowly and carefully on the gravel roads that are an unknown factor to European drivers. As a visi-tor you will need an international driving license.
