A happy workplace is a successful workplace. When employees are satisfied, you’ll find an increase in productivity and your bottom line. Offer Training - Keep training, learning, and improving your skills as you grow. From general communication tips to workshops on preventing illness and staying healthy, offer employees information that they will continue to use and see additional value in for years to come. Working together, you will help build additional corporate identity and passion to help your business thrive. Lunch Is On You – Take the time to show your employees that you care with little gestures, such as providing lunch. A great way to work around an expensive lunch effort is to bring in donuts or bagels for breakfast for the team every Friday (or one Friday a month). Positive Reinforcement – Positive reinforcement can simply be acknowledging when your employees are doing superb work, or it can be monetary rewards when they hit certain goals. Work Culture – Make décor changes to your office that will lighten the mood by adding flowers and cheerful decorations. Take a tip from fun-loving startups and technology companies by adding a pinch of entertainment to your break room (air hockey, latte machine, arcade games from the 1980s). You’ll not only show your employees that work can be fun (during appropriate breaks), but you’ll also show that you want to invest in your work culture, which will keep your employees happy in the long-term investment. Be Flexible – Many people prefer having options when it comes to their work hours. Even the CIA allows employees to work compressed weeks! A work schedule can be a highly personal thing. Some employees will always prefer regular business hours and days, but others might desire to work four ten hour days, or come in early or later to avoid traffic. Ask For Feedback – As humans, we want to be listened to for areas of concern or ideas for improvement. Offer your ears to your employees. Ask for feedback. You’re not only validating them as a person, but you open yourself up to the chance that you might be missing out on something that another individual can help you with. Team Building – Before you ever get to a point of division, begin to build your team. The team, after all, is the most important part of any company. Nobody can do everything on his or her own. Take time (or schedule time) out of the busy work week to concentrate on team building. Whether you have a small, new firm or a large, established office, these tips can help you keep your employees satisfied. When your people are happy, you’re more likely to keep your customers happy and create a successful business that will continue to grow for years to come.
