Few things can capture a child’s imagination like a good book. KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest invites children, kindergarten through third grade, in communities across our area to use their boundless imaginations to create original stories and illustrations and then submit them to their local PBS station. This year, thousands of children from northern Nevada and northeastern California participated in the KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest, building their creative voices, and developing critical reading and writing skills.

Imagine there was a glass planet that had eight

planets inside.

You have to wish upon a star in the middle of the night.

The star would come in the middle of the night

and pick you up.

The force field would be so strong that it is impenetrable and only stars could get in.

There are mystical lights and houses that are in the trees. There are glow in the dark

mushrooms that are yummy and edible.

It has ships that sail onclouds and lanterns hanging from the sky. The ships sail

on air and magical cars that drive on mist…

and peacocks.

You would try to meet Bartholomew and me, but there are consequences.

Bartholomew’s country has delays that stop you!

My country is explorative, so you want to explore the magical valley.

You wish upon a candle and it will take you home,

but the time on Earth will stop until you get back!
