U.S.-India Importers' Council (USIIC) in association with Robbins

Tunneling and Trenchless Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd., MMRC (Mumbai

Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.), and L&T Construction (Larsen & Toubro)

organised the “Mumbai Cuffe Parade Metro Site Visit” for Consul

General Mr. Edgard Kagan, American Consulate General, Mumbai on

28th Feb 2019.

Mr. Robin Rosario, USIIC Secretary General welcomed the august

gathering.

Mr. SK Gupta, MMRC Director Projects addressed the gathering and

thru his crisp presentation updated us on the Metro Line 3 i.e. Colaba-

Bandra-SEEPZ, one of the marque projects of the city.

US Consul General Mr. Edgard D. Kagan addressed the gathering and

appreciated the professional approach being adopted in the project

implementation. He also touched upon the long association America

shares with Mumbai.

The visit to the underground metro site and seeing the functioning of

the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) supplied by US based The Robbins

Company was a phenomenal experience. The Metro Site Visit was

another success story for USIIC. This event was the culmination of the

2014 "Tech Infra Projects Meet" by USIIC & The Robbins Company,

U.S.A. in association with U.S. Commercial Service to bring the various

USIIC and U.S. COMMERCIAL SERVICE Co-hosted the “Doing Business

with the U.S.” Seminar at the US Consulate General, Mumbai BKC on

Wed, 3rd April 2019 with the objective of acquainting the participants

with prospects of “Doing Business with the U.S.” through presentations

by professionals & U.S. Consulate personnel.

90 people registered for the seminar.

Event Summary:

Ms. Carla Menendez, Acting Principal Commercial Officer, U.S.

Consulate General, Mumbai. Welcomed the gathering & updated

the attendees on the role of the USCS, their mission and operations.

USIIC Director & Chairman Mr. C. Venkataramana, MD & Co-

Founder of VAG Buildtech Ltd. in his address introduced USIIC.

Ms. Jigna Mehta, Commercial Specialist, USCS enlightened us on

SelectUSA - Facilitating Indian Investment in the United States.

Mr. David Willey from the U.S. Consulate helped the attendees

through the U.S. Visa Process - the Do’s and Don’ts.

Mr. Pranay Bhatia, Partner Tax and Regulatory Services, BDO India

spoke on Investing in USA – Key Tax Considerations.

Mr. RK Pillai, MD, Aiipltech Pvt. Ltd. & USIIC Founder Director shared

his experience & understanding on Thriving in the new era of

Globalization - how to Work successfully with U.S. companies.

Mr. Ajay Yadav, Senior Vice President, Yes Bank Ltd. enlightened us

on New Instruments in Trade Financing.

USIIC Founder Director Mr. Saurabh Sonawala, MD, Hinditron Group

SelectUSA Investment Summit Outreach Roundtable in Mumbai.

On Thursday, 9 May 2019 the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai BKC

organised the Roundtable to promote the upcoming SelectUSA

Summit. More than 70 promising US Investors attended the event.

USIIC under the aegis of U.S. COMMERCIAL SERVICE, USA DEPARTMENT

OF COMMERCE organised the “Artificial Intelligence Summit” Themed:

The Game Changer was one of the most comprehensive summit

conducted on AI in recent times.

The Summit was attended by over 110+ Delegates and was supported by

NMIMS University (Knowledge Partner), Reliance Industries Ltd (Co-

Partner) and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (Associate Partner).

USIIC organised a Tour of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) for Ms.

Brenda VanHorn, Principal Commercial Officer, US Commercial Service,

US Consulate, Mumbai and her associate from USCS. The tour was co-

organised by “The New Jeweller Group Magazine” Editor Mr. A

Subramanian Subbu.

BDB is one of its kind and the biggest in The World, situated in a sprawling

campus of 20 acres at the heart of BKC. This state of the Art facility brings

both the small and big time Diamond traders and retailers under one

roof. It has a Custom house too which regulates the export and import of

Diamonds.

It was indeed a gracious gesture by Mr Anoop Mehta, President of BDB

to host us and show us around.

Ms. Brenda enjoyed the visit as much as others in the delegation.
