Early• 8000 B.C to

5000 B.C• Used small weapons made of

stone• Mammoths became extinct.

Late• 4000 B.C to 1000 B.C• Created a grooved axe to cut down trees

• Clay containers were made to store meat, grains, and

animal skins.

Middle• 5000 B.C to

4000 B.C• First Indians in

Georgia to hunt shellfish (and

any type of seafood)

• Didn’t move around as much

because food was easy to get.

ARCHAIC INDIANS

Lived from about 1000 B.C to 100 A.D.They invented the bow n’ arrow.

First to really plant squash, wild greens and sunflowers in GA.

Believed in the after life.

WOODLAND INDIANS

700 A.D to 1600 A.D Lived near the Mississippi River.Their dress was more complex.

They built palisades. (like fences)
