Main area of Focus

1. At the beginning of the year a spate of WAH incidents

identified working at height as a problem.

2. The time to focus helped the reinforcement of existing

procedures and creation of new regimes coupled with a

particular scrutiny on this topic has seen a change over

the past months.

Get it wrong and suffer the consequences…

We've always had ongoing logistical challenges on the

project but this has been exacerbated by the ever decreasing

site footprint. This means that every bit of available space is

premium.

Being smart with planning logistics.

Handover

The key benefits of compliance to the permit and authority to

access processes are:

• Duty of care towards other members of staff and those who

want to access the room, so they are briefed on changes in

the room or potential impacts of works they might be

unaware of.

• Control of access in EIS rooms, to understand who enters

these and impact of works on operational equipment which

could potentially affect the station particularly as we strive to

be DOWL free.

• Able to drive and maintain good housekeeping.

• Eliminate the need of unnecessary presence in EIS room,

reducing health and safety risks.

As the end of the Project draws closer large areas of the station are handed over into operational use, a

key focus area will be compliance access processes for works in Station Offices, Retail units and Back of

House areas.

Over the coming weeks changes will be rolled out to provide further adherence to the Network Rail Operating Procedure for

management of access and restricted areas.
