This week's parashah describes a number of rituals performed by the nation of Israel as they continued their journey in the desert, including the lighting of the seven-branched menorah by Aaron, the sanctification of the Levites, the second annual observance of Passover, and the making of two silver trumpets to summon the people. The parashah also describes three acts of opposition toward Moses. The first was by the people in which they demanded meat, in addition to manna. The second was the breaking away of two of the elders of Israel. And the third, and perhaps most difficult for Moses, was by his brother, Aaron, and sister, Miriam.
