This Week's Torah Portion in a Nutshell: NassoNumbers Triennial Reading:(1) 4:21-24 pg. 791(2) 4:25-28 pg. 791-792(3) 4:29-33 pg. 792(4) 4:34-37 pg. 792(5) 4:38-49 pg. 792-793(6) 5:1-4 pg. 793-794(7) 5:5-10 pg. 794-795Maftir: 5:8-10 pg. 795Haftarah: Judges 13:2-25 pg. 813-815

The parasha deals with a number of mundane issues related to life wandering the desert, including the responsibility of the Levite families for transporting the Tabernacle and its holy objects and the laws regarding where "unclean" people were to reside in relationship to the rest of the camp.

But perhaps the most enduring piece of the parasha is the revelation of the Priestly Benediction: "May God bless and keep you. May God's face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May God lift his countenance to you and grant you peace." These 15 words, in Hebrew, have been recited by Jews for thousands of years and remain as meaningful today as when first spoken by Aaron and his sons in the Tabernacle in the wilderness.
