My genius question is how do you make a tie dye t-shirt?

History of Tie Dye

Tie-dye as we know it became popular in the United States in the mid-1950's. People used dying methods with either "natural" or grocery-store type dyes-- folding, twisting, and tying fabric or clothing. The items were then either dipped or put into a dye bath. The results were simple and different designs which tended to fade quickly. Still, everybody loved them!

StepsStep#1 First, boil some water. Then pour 400ml of hot water into the fabric dye and then stir.

Step#2 Now wet your t-shirt with water and wring out the extra water.

Step#3 Then, decide what pattern you want. I chose the sun burst design.

Step#4 Pinch one of the bottom corners of the shirt and twist in a clockwise motion. Now tie it with rubber bands. Put the fabric dye in the ketchup bottles and squirt whatever design.

Step#5 Put it in plastic bags and place under the sun for 2 days max. When dry, rinse it while still tied. Then when no dye is running through the water, open up the rubber bands. Put it in the washing machine to and dry. Then hang to dry.
