From the Pastor and Teacher Dear Friends, Heres a selection from The Essence of Julian, a paraphrased translation of Julian of Norwichs Revelations of Divine Love, by Ralph Milton (Northstone, 2002). As I was seeing the vision of Christs bleeding head, he gave me a spiritual insight into his comforting love. Christ is everything we need – He is our clothing, wrapping us in love. Christ embraces us, shelters us, surrounds us with his tender love. Christ will never desert us! And then Christ showed me a tiny, round thing. It was about the size of a hazelnut, which I held in the palm of my hand. And I wondered, What might this be? How can this last? It is so tiny, it could just fade into nothing! This is the answer that came to me. In this small thing is all of creation! It lasts and it always will last because God loves it. Going Home To God

Continued from Page 1

In this way

all creation lasts

because

God made it

God cares for it

God loves itrdquo

Out of this I learned that God wants to be known We can find our true rest in God not in the things around us

God of goodness

give me yourself

You are enough to me

I can ask for nothing less

for then I would not be worshipping you

And if I ask for anything less

I will always be left wanting

Only in you

do I have everything

Godrsquos richest blessings to you

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Happy Spring

March was full of wonderful and educational events We reintroduced the Holy Week Walk Through this year for one which was fun and educational for everyone involved The Middle school and High school children acted out the scenes of The Last Supper The Garden of Gethsemane The Trial The Burial and The ResurrectionThey did a great job without much preparation Thanks to some plants and trees that were ldquoLentrdquo to us Sonja and Ella Mazzulli coming on Sat afternoon to set up the Tomb (made out of a tent with a grey spray painted tarp) and a lot of coordination not much was needed to pull it off The kids wore costumes from the Christmas Eve stock pile Thanks to Georgie Grangerrsquos instruction we also made Palm Leaf crosses Although it has been quite a few years since this has been done and it required some refreshing it brought back a lot of fond memories A few parents came to me afterwards and said their children enjoyed it and learned new things about Jesus last days which makes it all worth it I think children learn in many different ways and giving them opportunities like these strengthen their knowledge and faith Hopefully this can be something that continues in the coming years Wish I remembered to take some pictures

Now looking forward to VBS July 11-15th Through five stations like Cosmic crafts the Good News Galaxy and Moons and Tunes each day of our Galactic Blast cosmic adventure we will learn a mission story 1 Creation of the Universe 2 Elijah at Mt Horeb 3 The Women at the Well 4 A Blind Beggar in Jericho 5 Two Disciples in Emmaus Each mission includes a space connection Bible Booster memory verse and Praise Phrase This cosmic combination of fun and faith will bring children and volunteers alike into a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ Once again our talented youth are needed to help as well as adults If you are good at playing games or making crafts or if it simply peaks your interest please contact me at pamnianticcommunitychurchorg or by calling the church office 860-739-6208 Registration will begin June 1st I am looking forward to sharing ldquoA Thought for Young Mindsrdquo once a month There will be a ldquoOne Room Church Schoolrdquo on April 17th because of the Spring Break week Peace Pam McCauley

Not too long ago I received one of the best

greeting cards Irsquove ever had the pleasure of

opening I read a message that brought tears

to my eyes as I looked up at the window in

my office door to make sure no one was

seeing the spectacle But it was so beautiful

and unexpected It read ldquoGod is using you for

his special purpose To shine his light to share

his love to shape his people You are making a

difference in ways you donrsquot even realize

And yoursquore very much appreciatedrdquo Signed

Many friends at church I was so moved by

this thoughtful act of kindness these words

that touched me to the core I suspect I know

who is responsible But the mystery makes it

all the more special

That message sent to me I share with you

because God is using you for his special

purpose You are making a difference in ways

you donrsquot even realize Each time a visitor sits

next to you in worship and you turn and

smile Each time you invite a friend to attend

a retreat or program with you Each time you

help prepare a shelter meal or support a

fundraiser And even each time you bake

brownies for a funeral reception or help fold

bulletins in the church office We all make a

difference every single day in our own

unique wayhellipand you are very much

appreciated Thank you for Making NCC

such a special place

History Quiz Answer

We really do not know how many burials there are We have a list of 775 names that are known If you have

been to the site you will notice a large area that only contains a few grave stones Many early burials were

only marked with fieldstones and no names There could be as many as 300 to 500 unmarked burials in the

grounds

Trivia Some of you may know the web site findagravecom If you go to that site and search Old Stone

Church you will find a listing of all the known burials and photos of the stones

Adult Sunday Morning Class

The adult Sunday morning class is a fellowship of seekers Each week we wrestle with questions of faith But we

must be clear about what we are seeking It is first and foremost about love not answers A meditation in the StillSpeaking daily on-line devotional calls us back to that focus

A 14th century text called lsquoThe Cloud of

Unknowingrsquo (appropriately penned by ldquoSource Unknownrdquo) urges us to give up trying to understand God and instead reach for God with

simple love Our intense need to understand will always be a powerful stumbling block to

our attempts to reach God in simple love and must always be overcome For if you do not overcome this need to understand it will

undermine your quest In other words the thing we most often trip over in our spiritual

journey is our own head Please learn everything you can about the Christian faith Move heaven and earth to get to a Bible

study Ask as many questions as possible Just remember that the point of faith is not to become a well-informed person who trusts

their intellect but someone who loves well and trusts God

Prayer

Lord may I remember today that even if I have

prophetic powers and understand all mysteries and all knowledge but do not have love I am nothing and I gain nothing Amen

Whoever you are and wherever you are on lifersquos journey

and wherever you are on your faith journey yoursquore encouraged to join us as we seek to grow in love and faith We meet informally in the Fellowship Room each Sunday

morning at 1015

That message sent to me I share with you

because God is using you for his special

purpose You are making a difference in ways

you donrsquot even realize Each time a visitor sits

next to you in worship and you turn and

smile Each time you invite a friend to attend

a retreat or program with you Each time you

help prepare a shelter meal or support a

fundraiser And even each time you bake

brownies for a funeral reception or help fold

appreciated Thank you for Making NCC

Abundant blessings and happy spring to

you

Abundant blessings and happy spring to

you

Anything Goes hellipminimize simplify organize

How it works 1 Bring unwanted items that you want to give

away If you can carry it you can bring it Bring as much as you want

2 Bring one non-perishable food item for the NCC Food Pantry and a brown bag lunch to enjoy following the exchange

3 Each participant offers their items in turn See what others have to give away and claim all you want Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity immediately following our gathering

Why 1 Because itrsquos an opportunity to clean out get

organized Letting go of what we no longer wantneed makes room for what IS important to us

2 Discover the spirituality of being organized during thoughtful reflections and discussion over lunch

3 Break bread and enjoy fellowship with like minded souls

4 Support the NCC emergency food pantry and other non profit organizations

We really do not know how many burials there are We have a list of 775 names that are known If you have

been to the site you will notice a large area that only contains a few grave stones Many early burials were

only marked with fieldstones and no names There could be as many as 300 to 500 unmarked burials in the
