After months of much prayer and discussion, the Stewardship Commi,ee has come to the inescapable conclusion that further action must be taken if our church is to avoid a huge financial crisis. A few months ago, our commi,ee sent a le,er to every church member outlining the state of our current finances. In it we explained the necessity to reduce this year’s planned program spend-ing by 20% and mission spending by 70 % to try to meet the budget shortfall. In that le,er we also shared that the only way to further reduce spending, if giving did not improve, would be to reduce staff personnel salaries. Staff salaries comprise 50% of our current budget. Other “fixed costs” in the church budget are necessities like insurance and utilities that are paid monthly.

Since January, we have had only one month where giving has met our budget obligations. Currently our giving is $40,000 behind budget expenditures. If this pa,ern continues, our church will not be able to meet its church approved budget obligations for the year.

The Stewardship Commi,ee has asked the Personnel Commi,ee to reduce our dedicated staffs’ salaries by 20%, which will save the church $50,000. We want our membership to understand that these unfortunate cuts could be avoided if we as a church sacrificially increased our giving so that we can meet or exceed our weekly budget needs.

Our church is at a critical point in its history. We only have 2 more months left to complete our severance commitment to Steve and Bobby. Our commi,ee is prayerfully asking church members to give even more sacrificially to our church. If we prayerfully increase our tithes and offerings, Ocean View Baptist Church can be victorious in this time of crisis.

We have (tentatively) scheduled a Special Called Business Meeting for Sunday, June 30th at 5.00 PM. Should giving not increase, an adjusted church budget will be presented at that time which will include the proposed 20% staff pay cuts. Please mark your calendars and pray about what God would have you do.

Your servant in Christ,

Rhe, Sansbury, Chairman of Stewardship Commiee

In answer to this request from the Stewardship Commi,ee, the Personnel Commi,ee has with prayer and much angst made the staff cuts requested by Stewardship. We have done this with consideration to current & future needs, resources, and as judicially as possible. The budget cuts include reductions in staff and salary cuts to the full time, musical, technical and interim staff. During the business meeting @ 5:00 PM on June 30, 2013 the members of OVBC will be provided with an opportunity to vote on this budget cut. The Personnel Commi,ee will provide reasoning for each salary or staff adjustment. Like the Stewardship Commi,ee, the Personnel Commi,ee prays that the dramatic nature of these salary and staff cuts will spur this body of Christ to increase giving to honor our financial commitments to God and the OVBC staff as we move through the remainder of 2013 and going forward.

Yours in Christ,

Forrest Ropp, Chairman of Personnel Commiee

IMPORTANT

STUDENT MINISTRY

DATES:

4

► FUSE now takes place every Sunday morning at 11:10 am in the new building at 7202 Kings Highway!! Fuse is an exciting worship experience with relevant teachings. Or, said another way, a rock concert with a lesson.

► A New Series during Fuse: “Label Makers”: We are not our labels. We are not who others say we are. And we aren’t the broken self-image we see in the mirror. So how can we get to our true identity? By laying down who we think we are to become who God says we are. And when we lay our ego on the altar of Calvary, we'll discover our Altar Ego.

► Join us for TRANSIT in the new building on Wednesdays at 6:15 pm! Students are so busy nowadays and are traveling in so many directions. Navigating through all of that is tough work! TRANSIT is Ocean View’s Wednesday night Student

Ministry hangout that includes games, teachings, messes, small groups, and music. It’s a time to come together, once a week, before we all leave and go back out into the chaos.

► Sunday Morning Small Groups meet in the New Building at 10:00 am, right before FUSE. Bojangles provided!

► X Fuge at North Greenville University: June 24-29! Sign up NOW! Call Tommy, 222.1080, for all the details.

Monty & Ansley Morrow Monty and Ansley are joining with son, Bailey Morrow upon transfer of their le,er from 5501 N. Kings Highway First Baptist Church in Myrtle Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 Beach. Their son, Bailey is request- 843-450-6260 ing membership as a candidate (Pictured with their for baptism. daughter, Abigail).

JOY Fellowship will be on the road again—Fall Trip dates: Sept. 18-25! We are going to Texas for 8 days & 7 nights! Eight days & seven nights for $865! Pick up a flyer in the Foyer or Church Office soon and sign up on J.O.Y. Bulletin Board. Call Bill Bowman, 390.4258, for more information.

Volunteers from OVBC are needed to help serve lunch to the “least of these” in our community, during the week of June 24-28. If you would like to participate in this worthy ministry, please call Gwen Edge, 843.449.5890. Thank you in advance for your response to this call… you’ll be richly blessed!
