Neatest TIDBITS® LOOKS AT THE MOST EXPENSIVE by Kathy Wolfe Food, clothing, transportation, education, and entertainment all take a chunk out of our bud- gets. Tidbits takes a look at some of the most expensive items in these categories. • The world’s fastest accelerating car is also the most expensive. The Bugatti Veyron gives new meaning to the term “sticker shock,” carrying a price tag of $1,700,000. But if you’re interested in accelerating from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds, this is the car for you! It takes the Lamborghini Reventon 3.3 seconds to reach that speed, but it’s a little more affordable at $1,600,000. • An international cost of living survey cites Japan as a very expensive place to live. The number one and two most expensive cities in the world to live are both in that country, Tokyo and Osaka, respectively. Moscow placed third and Geneva, Switzerland ranked fourth in this survey based on the price of housing, transportation, food, clothing, household items, and entertainment. Down at the bottom of the list is Johannesburg, South Africa, the least expensive city. Only one U.S. metropolis, NewYork City, made the Top Ten at Number 8, while Los Angeles trailed down the list at Number 23 turn the page for more! TIDBITS GETS FIRED UP ABOUT

    NATIONAL BOSS DAYby Stanley Drummond

Bosses are people, too. (Really!) And every year on October 16, America pays tribute to them. Actually, National Boss Day was created in

1958 by an Illinois secretary named Patricia Haroski. She chose October 16 because it was her fathers birthday. Her father also happened to be her boss at the time. Nevertheless, she felt that bosses in general were underappreciated, and registered the date with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as an official observance.

Interestingly enough, a 2005 survey done by an international human resources consulting firm revealed that the majority of employees would not trade places with their boss. The primary reason given was the change that would result between them and their co-workers. They could no longer ignore or laugh at any slackers in their department; theyd be responsible for any poor performers.

Hallmark started selling Boss Day cards in 1979. While they dont reveal actual sales figures, they do disclose that the holiday is poised to break into the list of top 10 card-send-ing events within the next few years.

If your fridge or freezer has large vacancies, you can help insulate its interior by placing glass pitchers of water in those empty spots. The refrigerator uses about 17% of your homes electricity, so keep it running at its optimal capacity.

Expensive, in Weizmans world, means $2 million, which was the price tag for a pair of stiletto heels worn by singer Alison Krauss to the 2004 Academy Awards. The platinum shoes were studded with 55 carats of clear diamonds and a single ve-carat diamond. A less-expensive pair carried a price tag of $1.2 million for a pair of ruby slippers, featuring 642 rubies set in half a pound of platinum.

Dont get so enamored by stranger number one that you forget to introduce yourself to stranger number two. The error is a double edge loser. First, you will lower the self-esteem of the professional you ignored. Second, the person you ignored may have a Rolodex full of your future clients. You do not know the financial value of either stranger until you have used The Clusters with both of them. Gather productive information from both strangers: then you can determine if one or both are business possibilities. Get their cards and give at least one a call tomorrow. Miss no opportunity!

C.E. Doolin started selling bags of corn chips out of his Model T Ford in 1932. Those little snacks, known as Fritos, went on to become one of Amer-icas favorites. Nearly 30 years later, the Frito Company merged with a popular potato chip company owned by Herman Lay, and Frito-Lay continued its growth, accounting for nearly 60% of U.S. snack chip sales today.

Under-stocking or over-stocking your refrigerator makes it work harder to keep its best possible tem-perature of about 37 degrees Fahrenheit. If your fridge or freezer has large vacancies, you can help insulate its interior by placing glass pitchers of water in those empty spots. The refrigerator uses about 17% of your homes electricity, so keep it running at its optimal capacity.

It was American comedian Joey Adams who made the following sage observation: If it werent for the fact that the TV set and the refrigerator are so far apart, some of us wouldnt get any exercise at all. A butterflys sense of taste is located on its feet.

You know that smoking is hazardous to your health, but you might not realize all the different types of damage it can do. For instance, a shop in Great Britain required more than $400,000 in repairs to its roof due to a fire from a cigarette. A fire from an inadequately extinguished butt isnt at all unusual, but in this case it wasnt because the owner -- or any other person -- was careless. It seems a sparrow that had been building its nest in the stores eaves liked to use cigarette butts. The bird evidently picked one up that was still burning, eventually setting the building alight.

    Someone with too much time on his hands once d e t e r m i n e d that there are 293 different combinations

of coins that will make change for a U.S. dollar.

Every year, doughnut-maker Krispy Kreme uses a whopping 1 million pounds of sprinkles on its pastries. Coffee is one of the most-traded commodities on earth, second only to oil. If you, like many others, are trying to figure out how to meet that special someone, you might want to reconsider the use of personal ads. Those who study such things claim that approximately 35 percent of people who use personal ads for dating are already married.
