2017 marks the 9th year of our operation and I would like to thank all of the many local residents and also very many others from outside the area who come to our events, including the outslde seafront concerts on the Rottingdean Terraces Stage. Thank you also to our hard-working Management Team who help us to make it all happen

The programme for 2017 has now been organised and highlights include:

The SPRING MUSIC FESTIVAL will run from Saturday, March 11-Sunday, March 19. The opening concert will be given by the legendary PASADENA ROOF ORCHESTRA on March 11, followed by, on Sunday, March 12, a HARP RECITAL from 12.00-1.00pm and an evening OPERA AND MUSICALS GALA DINNER featuring the outstanding tenor Benjamin Makisi at 7.30pm. Monday and Tuesday evenings, March 13 and 14, there will be JAZZ DINNERS at the Bistro Gourmand with vocalist Jackie Sampson and keyboard player David Beebee on Monday and a return visit by the very entertaining Mike Hatchard (pianist and vocalist) on Tuesday, with a three-course dinner cooked by Franck Thomeret.

Weds. March 15 will feature THE COPPER FAMILY and JOHN KIRKPATRICK (BBC Folk Musician of the Year) in a folk evening and on Thursday, March 16 we present KATHLEEN FERRIER. That evening there will be a showing of the film, THE THREE TENORS at the Bistro Gourmand (in association with Richard Harris). We return to Hillside Barn Friday evening, March 17 for a concert by the KALEIDOSCOPE SAXOPHONE QUARTET. On Sunday, March 19 at 4.00pm the English Concert Singers will present David Fanshawe’s unique AFRICAN SANCTUS in St. Nicholas Church, Saltdean at 4.00pm, conducted by Roy Wales. The Festival will conclude with a concert by the ever-popular Jazz Musician HERBIE FLOWERS and his ALL STARS BAND in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

PAUL PATTERSON, the distinguished composer and our Honorary President, who will celebrate his 70th birthday this June, will be our Composer-in-Residence and during the Festival three of his works will be performed.

Other events in the year will include several Summer Concerts on the Rottingdean Terraces Stage and a Male Voice Choir Concert on Friday, October 6 featuring Cornish and Canadian Choirs.
