Pre-Inca Sanctuary of PACHACAMAC Half day From Tuesday to Sunday only

It is an important archaeological site located 31 km south of Lima in the Lurin Valley (20 minutes). It was one of the most important ceremonial centers of the Pre-Hispanic world, a pilgrimage place where people used to go to visit its prestigious Oracle.

Four generations of temples were built in this cult center dedicated to the God Pachacamac, which date from the 3

rd

century to inca domination (16th

century).

When the Incas arrived at that place, they built the Temple of the Sun or Punchao Cancha and the Temple of the Moon or Accllawasi, which were in the charge of women called Mamacunas.

Textiles, quipus and ceramics are displayed in the site museum, depicting the everyday life of the local people.
