Dear Graduates, Guardians, & Community, As Superintendent of Schools, it is with great privilege and pride that I present to you, the graduating Class of 2017. These graduates have the opportunity to matriculate into many different areas, thanks to the dedication and support of parents and guardians, and all of the staff in the Monroe County School District. Making sure our scholars have options beyond graduation is truly a community effort. The graduates have worked extremely hard, have collectively contributed countless hours of service to the Keys communities they are a part of, and have graciously accepted the many learning challenges placed in front of them throughout the school year. These qualities exemplify the global citizens and thought-provoking leaders we strive to foster in Monroe County Schools. More than 400 students will accept diplomas this year from Coral Shores High School, Marathon High School, Key West High School, and Key West Collegiate Academy. This accomplishment is in part to the students’ decision to “Chart the Course” to excellence for themselves, within the District, and beyond. This unique educational opportunity will make a marked difference once the students enter into careers, colleges, and universities. Included amongst this year’s graduates – two National Merit Finalists, 54 Take Stock in Children graduates, and many others who have made plans to attend two or four year colleges and universities, many with scholarships. Some of our students have chosen to take a different pathway and begin a career right out of high school. Whatever path you have chosen to take, your journey of life-long learning has just begun.
