Message From The President

Barker Edwards

There have been a number of changes that have taken place in the CC-AWA since last years conference. The first being I was elected president of the association after Ron Lawrence decided to step down after 40 years of being president. Also changes have been made in the location of the conference

1

room and the old equipment contest room. We are making this change to try to cut the cost of the conference down some. If it does not work to everyone's liking, we will move back to the lager rooms next year. Also we decided not to provide meals this year. It was decided to let everyone eat when and where they would like. So everyone bear with us to see how it works out.

Judy L. Edwards In Loving Memocy!

The largest change for me is when I lost my loving wife of 40 years on November 1st.

Not only has the loss of Judy affected me, but it has affected the CC-AWA also. Judy did a lot for the CCA WA that not many people saw. She worked on the data base for the CC-A WA, published the news letter and conference brochure since 2003, and put the new web

2

page together a few years ago. She was a self thought master with the computer.

She had started the 2019 conference brochure just before she went into the hospital on August 14th. Very slowly I

have been working on this brochure, because I am not as versed with MS Publisher as she was.

She came last year to the 2018 conference and had a good time. She was looking forward to come to this year's conference, but things did not work out that way. I

sure miss her, she was a very smart and talented lady.

Auction

of the John & Mary Mode Collection

The late club member John Mode collection will be auctioned on Thursday evening March 21 starting at 7:ooPM.

John was an avid collector of all things Zenith Radio from the mid 1930s to the 1970s. He loved to spend time in his shop fixing as many radios as he could to good playing condition. While Zenith was a special interest, many more similar home and portable radios from other manufacturers also made their way to his home. On March 21, 2019 the majority of his collection will be auctioned to the highest bidder at the Antique Radio Charlotte 2019 conference at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel. There are currently about 150 radios plus related items identified in the to be auctioned. The

5

majority are in good to excellent cosmetic condition and many have been serviced in recent years. Some of the lesser value items will be grouped into lots so that the sale can be completed in a timely fashion. Other lesser items may be placed for sale in the Friday morning "Le Mans Start" flea market. The CC-AWA.CLUB website has preview photos of many of the items to be auctioned and an inventory listing of most items in the sale. Only a very few items will have minimum reserve bid limits of approximately 50% of the estimated market value.
