Making!History in the MM Today we dedicate a building for teaching and learning. For the past three years, this building has slowly risen from the fi rst shovels of overturned earth to the impressive structure that it is today.

We believe that in the construction of this new home for middle school students, we have “made history,” because we believe that history is about that which endures and is especially important because its story matt ers to all of us. This building will endure for generations and the stories writt en here and the players in those stories will be stitched in the tapestry of this place forever.

As well, the storied history of Fremont’s current middle school will follow every student entering this new middle school, for volumes and volumes of history were writt en in the 120 years of that building.

The careful connection of the old and the new off ers us the opportunity to write a continuing story that seamlessly adds chapters to a community legacy of commitment to education and children.

That, then, may be the more important part of “making history,” for the history of this new Fremont Middle School also begins today with this dedication. It takes many hands to write a history and that history will be fi ltered through many perspectives.

Thus, today’s event is “historical” both for the event that it is and the incredibly important framework for teaching and learning that it will soon be.

Thank you for joining us today as we take the fi rst steps on what we hope will be a most fruitful, historic journey.
