Thriller Audience Research Analysis

The favourite genres from the 12 people who answered the survey was Thriller, Sci-fi and Comedy.

I feel that this represents the feelings of most people but to make the answers more reliable I could have told more people about the survey. I looked at the BFI website and was able to find out that in the UK Thrillers are the 3rd favourite film type.

As you can see from the chart no one dislikes the thriller genre so the overall feel is good.

A possibility to find out why people chose ‘good’ could be to ask a question on what aspects of the thriller genre interest the thriller audience. This would find out specifics rather than having a general answer

3. What is your favourite Thriller film?

These were the favourite films of the people who responded to the survey. Others specified that they had more than one favourite thriller film. Based off of these findings we based our ideas on the inception movie as our group and the survey respondents all enjoyed the film and the concept

4. What aspects of the Thriller genre interest you the most?

These three answers were the most relevant and fitted in well with the idea we had of having a mystery man building tension up throughout the title sequence.

I feel that the anticipation is enjoyable and keeps you interested in the film.

We had an Idea to have our protagonist wear a gas mask as it is mysterious and also may have some meaning behind it.

5. What is your opinion on a psychological thriller?

Our group had an Idea to create a psychological Thriller but from research and the responses we had we felt that we would not have the time or the skills to be able to pull it off. We incorporate some elements of a

psychological Thriller in our planning and it seemed to go ok but we realised later on we wouldn’t be able to create it in the time period we had.
