Summer Boost
◦ Elementary – Current PreK – 4 at 8 elementary
sites
◦ Secondary – Current 5 – 8 at all high schools
◦ Reading and Math
◦ In person instruction
◦ 6 weeks/4 days a week
◦ Students from all elementary and middle schools
will be included
◦ Transportation, breakfast and lunch provided
Virtual Summer School◦ Original Credit Courses:
◦ English 3, 4, Fit for Life/Health, Personal Financial Literacy
◦ Make-up Courses (HS):
◦ Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Algebra with Trigonometry and Statistics
◦ Earth Systems, Biology, Chemistry
◦ English 1, 2, 3, 4,
◦ U.S. History, World History, Local State and National Government
◦ Spanish 1, 2, Foundations of Technology, Personal Financial Literacy, Fit for Life/Health
◦ Make-up Courses (MS):
◦ Reading/English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies
◦ All Virtual Classes
◦ All make-up classes free
◦ Internet Cafes at all High Schools
Virtual Summer School◦ Make-up courses will be facilitated by teachers
at each of the middle and high schools
◦ Original credit courses will be facilitated by Stethem
◦ July 6 – August 6 (M – F)
◦ July 6 – teacher prep day
◦ Graduation – Friday, August 6th
◦ 23 total days
◦ APEX
◦ Make-up: ½ hour sessions (M – Th)
◦ Original credit: 1 hour sessions (M – Th)
◦ Fridays will be asynchronous
Special Education Opportunities
◦ Summer Boost Program (PreK through 21):
Special education teacher recommendation
◦ Criteria:
◦ Students who opted out of synchronous instruction.
◦ Students who have limited access to technology.
◦ Students with excessive absences during distance learning.
◦ Students who have made minimal progress on IEP goals and objectives, including related services.
◦ Will focus on IEP goals along with intensive implementation of interventions
◦ Determined by IEP teams
◦ Extended School Year Services (ESY):
◦ Focuses on maintenance of acquired skills, not progress
◦ Compensatory Services:
◦ Determined by IEP teams
◦ Based upon whether students received a free appropriate public education during the school year
Special Education Opportunities
◦ Extended Learning Opportunities:
◦ Students with disabilities will be offered extended learning
activities throughout school year 2021 – 2022, the summer
of 2022, and school year 2022 – 2023.

Use a universal screener to identify who is in need and then use
other tools to determine what are the specific deficits.
