We all enjoyed a happy and social morning for our Opening School Mass on Sunday. It was terrific to see so many families present to celebrate the commencement of the new school year. A huge thank you to all for attending! Following Mass we all enjoyed a barbecued breakfast in the Church grounds.

Dear Friends All students are to be commended for their efforts at the 3 Way Swimming Carnival last Thursday with many achieving personal bests in a number of events. A huge thank you to the number of parents who came to support on the day. Congratulations to Amelia Vaughan, Tom Kerin, Simon Brown, Fergus Kerin and Charlie Brown who have been selected to compete in the Southern Region Carnival in Orange this coming Friday. We wish them well in their events.

Banjo Paterson Celebrations Many thanks to all who have returned notes and money regarding our Camp Oven Lunch at this weekend’s Banjo Paterson Celebrations. Attached to the newsletter is a roster for the weekend. Shrove Tuesday Next Tuesday 28th February is Shrove Tuesday, commonly known as Pancake Day. This is the last day before Christians all over the world begin their Lenten journey of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. St Columba’s will again celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Pancake Breakfast for students and parents. The cost is $2 per person and breakfast will be from 9am. Hope to see you there.

Life Education Van Happy Healthy Harold will visit St Columba’s next Wednesday 1st of March. All students will attend the sessions as part of our PDHPE curriculum. The fee for this visit has been included in the schedule of fees. Lenten Prayer Group Each Wednesday a Lenten Prayer Group gathers in the School Library from 7pm-8pm. Mrs Brown facilitates the group which reflects on Jesus’ messages as we go about our daily lives. All are welcome and invited to attend. The first gathering will be next Wednesday 1st March.

St Patrick’s Day St Columba’s will celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Friday 17th March. Students are asked to wear green on this day and make a gold coin donation to Project Compassion. Final Swimming Day Our last day of swimming for the season will be Friday 10th March. St Joseph’s Day Celebrations This year, St Joseph’s Molong will host the Joseph’s Day Celebrations on Wednesday 15th March for their friends from Eugowra, Manildra & Yeoval Catholic Schools. The day will begin with Mass followed by various activities in their school grounds. Students will need to wear their Sports Uniform on the day and have a packed recess. The cost of the day will be $10 per student which will include lunch and bus travel. Could you please complete the attached note and return it to school with payment by Friday 10th March.
