The TripleCoatings feature the characteristic triple structure: – The adhesive layer consists of a pure Cr or Ti-based layer with a typical thickness of 200 - 500 nm. – The core layer is often designed as Multi- or Nanolayer, since it is responsible for the high toughness of the whole coating. – The top layer has to ensure high wear resistance, which is usually achieved with a Nanocomposite structure. The concept of TripleCoatings was introduced by PLATIT in 2007. Since then the company is extending the coating family with new members systematically and conti- nuously. At EMO 2011 three new standard TripleCoatings will be presented (Fig. 1). nACoX The nACoX , the PVD layer containing aluminum, was the breakthrough in many dedicated applications this year. It brought outstanding HSC (high speed cutting) results not only for dry turning, but also for machine components (such as tur- bine blisks) or profile cutters. Primarily medium size insert manufacturers show the biggest interest for nACoX . With nACoX , they can offer their own aluminum oxide layer, without investing in expensive CVD technology. The three new layers can be deposited in the coating plants π111 and π311. They will be presented at the EMO 2011 with the new etching option LARC-GD ® (Fig. 3). AlCrTiN -PLUS The AlCrTiN -PLUS is the further development of AlCrN , which was originally used for micro hobbing. It is based, like its predecessor, on an Al/Cr multi/nano core layer. This shows an excellent behavior in dry machining and at cutting with minimum lubrication. The mono block top layer contains Ti, which lifts the film in the upper class even for wet pro- cessing. Therefore the AlCrTiN -PLUS is applicable very universally. TiXCo The TiXCo contains much more silicon, which is urgently required for milling of high-hardened materials (> 60 HRC). The new TiXCo , now raised to standard, contains chro- mium, which makes the coating also successful for machining steels with lower hardness (Fig. 2). The copper-like color of TiXCo promises additional marketing impacts. Fig. 3: PVD coating units of PLATIT for deposition of TripleCoatings . The TripleCoatings3® feature the characteristictriple structure:– The adhesive layer consists of a pure Cr or Ti-based layer

with a typical thickness of 200 - 500 nm.– The core layer is often designed as Multi- or Nanolayer, since

it is responsible for the high toughness of the whole coating.

– The top layer has to ensure high wear resistance, which is usually achieved with a Nanocomposite structure. The concept of TripleCoatings3® was introduced by

PLATIT in 2007. Since then the company is extending thecoating family with new members systematically and conti-nuously. At EMO 2011 three new standard TripleCoatings3®

will be presented (Fig. 1).

nACoX3®

The nACoX3®, the PVD layer containing aluminum, was thebreakthrough in many dedicated applications this year. Itbrought outstanding HSC (high speed cutting) results not onlyfor dry turning, but also for machine components (such as tur-bine blisks) or profile cutters. Primarily medium size insertmanufacturers show the biggest interest for nACoX3®. WithnACoX3®, they can offer their own aluminum oxide layer, without investing in expensive CVD technology.

The three new layers can be deposited in the coating plants!111 and !311. They will be presented at the EMO 2011 withthe new etching option LARC-GD® (Fig. 3).

AlCrTiN3®-PLUSThe AlCrTiN3®-PLUS is the further development of AlCrN3®,

which was originally used for micro hobbing. It is based, likeits predecessor, on an Al/Cr multi/nano core layer. Therefore the AlCrTiN3 ®-PLUS is applicable veryuniversally.

TiXCo3®

The TiXCo3® contains much more silicon, which is urgentlyrequired for milling of high-hardened materials (> 60 HRC).The new TiXCo3 ®, now raised to standard, contains chro-mium, which makes the coating also successful for machiningsteels with lower hardness (Fig. 2). The copper-like color ofTiXCo3® promises additional marketing impacts.
