Speed to adapt to changing needs is a key concern for higher education likewise improving industry linked pedagogy is the need of the current times. Interface between Industry and Academia plays a central role in the growth and development of a nation. Industry not only provides employment opportunities for the educated and skilled products of education, it also engages in solving problems through research and innovation to improve the quality of new products and services.

There is a need to adopt the globally relevant best practices to create a continuous stream of future student leaders. Collaboration between industry and academia can make substantial improvement in research and innovation and also ensure industrial relevance in academic research. Now organizations often look to academic collaborators for innovation. Academia needs to make institutional mechanism to motivate the process of innovation and research. Collaborative accomplishment rests on mutual interest, achievable goal and rewards. Partnerships can bring together the collective creativity, expertise and resources of industry and academia.

Likewise, in the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.

Another equally significant development is that innovation in education is being facilitated by enterprise. Globally, businesses are setting the agenda for the future direction of education sector. Entrepreneurship can help address the big societal challenges of our time and helps make the transition to a more sustainable and equitable economy.

Innovation and enterprise have emerged as two interrelated phenomena that are comprehensively changing the knowledge industry. Technological advances in spheres such as Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning are being adopted across a wide spectrum of all sectors, and this is changing the industry’s need for qualified personnel.

This interconnectivity has transformed educational sector in the way education is imparted, with emphasis on digital learning environment. The combination of enterprise and education is leading to a predominance of technologically oriented program that reflect the new economic opportunities.

One of the challenges of the current times, especially for the developing countries; in realizing the sustainable development is about financial constraints but its only up till a certain extent. In many instances, legal and institutional frameworks obstruct the development, import/export, transfer and use of technologies for sustainable development.
