Biography

Thomas is a Nebraska Native, that is recognized world wide for his amazing nature photography.

In 1965, he began studying business at the University of Nebraska. Tom transferred to Doane College in Crete, Nebraska in 1967.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He continued postgraduate study in zoology and wildlife biology at the University of Nebraska and Colorado State University.

His work is displayed in many museums such as the Natural History Museum, in London, and the San Diego Natural History Museum.

Thomas is known for this wildlife nature photography, he enjoys going out in the wild, and taking picture of animals, or anything in nature that looks photo worthy.

Mangelsen’s love of nature, his life outdoors, and business success were influenced by his father. Harold Mangelsen took his sons to favorite blinds along the Platte River in Nebraska to look at the huge flocks of ducks, geese and cranes that migrate through the area. From these outings Mangelsen learned important lessons for photographing in the field, including patience, waiting for the right moment and understanding animal behavior.

The main subject of the photograph is to show the two bears playing around. The bears are in a rule of thirds. I chose this photo over the others because I thought It was cute how the bears are playing, and it looks like they are dancing together.
