The development of business competition in the field of products or services is increasingly competitive tightly. Com-petition for product quality reaches the market. These are the fastest growing industries in 2018. So it is very necessaryfor a good and structured information system that serves to increase the effectiveness of supply chain management sothat it will have an impact on business performance. At present the information system is needed to increase the ef-fectiveness of supply chain management. Supply chain information systems can be standardize, monitor, capture andutilize business potential in order to improve business performance. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the con-ceptual role of information systems in the effectiveness of supply chain management. According to O’Brian in Jacob(2012: 17) Information systems are a regular combination of people, hardware, software, communication networks, anddata resources that collect, change, and disseminate information in a organization. Whereas according to Jogiyanto inJacob (2012: 17) Information systems are a system within an organization that brings together daily transaction dataprocessing needs, supports operations, managerial and strategic activities of an organization and provides certain out-side parties with the necessary reports. The method of this research is conceptual approach from related theories. Thevariable in this conceptual analysis is the role of information systems in the effectiveness of supply chain management. The hypothesis in this paper based on literature is assumed that the role of management information systems has a re-lationship in achieving effectiveness in supply chain management.
