Abraham: Faith That TrustsHebrews 11

The Bible is filled with examples of how faith makes a difference in life. This morning, we begin a five-week study entitled: Faith Lessons For Today.

Abraham lived nearly four thousand years ago. Yet today, three religions of the world (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity) trace their lineage, either through flesh or through faith, to him. Today we’ll look at two situations

in Abraham’s life where he practiced trusting faith.

I. Why is faith important? “And without faith it is impossible to please God…” v. 6 II. What does it mean to have trusting faith?

1. Trusting faith is _____________ when you don’t _______________. v. 1

2. Trusting faith is _____________ when you don’t _______________. “By faith,” the writer of Hebrews said, “Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went.” v. 8

“By faith,” the writer of Hebrews proclaimed, “Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.” v. 17

3. Trusting faith is ______________________________________. “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” Romans 1:17
