Wednesday Today you are going to plan your own adventure, using pictures to make a story map. Here are some examples of what a story map might look like.

Talk about it with someone at home. Where would you want to go? Who with? Plan your own adventure Where would go first? It could be outer space, a jungle, a beach. Who would you meet there? What exciting thing would you do there? Swim across a dangerous river? Escape from a dinosaur? Where would you go next? How would you get there? Thursday Starting your story 1st paragraph: You can use the film to help start your story. As it is your adventure remember to write in the first person (so use I and we). Are your visiting your grandad, or someone else? What will you find that takes you into the imaginary worlds (is it an old photo, or a secret den?) 2nd paragraph: Now you can start writing about the first scene in your adventure. You need to describe where it is and what happens - remember to look at your story map, and to use expanded noun phrases to add detail.

Friday Continue writing about your adventure. Read where you ended your first adventure. How will you get to the next place? 3rd paragraph: Write about the next place you explore. What happens there? Who do you meet? What exciting thing happens? 4th paragraph This is the last place you will explore - so make it really exciting! Final paragraph How do you get back to where you were at the beginning of the story? How do you feel? Congratulations - you have written a story! Can you remember how we edit and improve our written work? Read your story with someone at home. As you read, check these things: - Do my sentences make sense? Have I missed any words out? - Are there any tricky words I need to check how to spell? - Can I add any fronted adverbials and other conjunctions to help the story flow better? Finally: we really want to read what you have written! If you have done it on the computer, please upload it and email it to your teacher. Or you can send a photo of it if that's easier. Well done!
