Please join us this Friday morning as we remember all those killed as victims of war, in fighting or combat since the beginning of the First World War. We pause for two minutes at 11am to remember the cost to generations before us and to all those still suffering persecution and torment in their lives. We would be very happy if parents could join us for this occasion although we appreciate it is at a difficult time especially for those who work.

CHAPLAINCY ASSEMBLIES THURSDAY

2:45pm Many thanks to everyone who

has come along to our Chaplaincy assembly.

If you have not yet been our chaplaincy led liturgies are every

Thursday afternoon from 2:45 (just before pick up time); all parents/carers are welcome.

PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCY We currently have one vacancy on our Governing Body for a Parent Governor. As a Parent Governor you would be representing the views of parents across the school.

This is a rewarding position and gives a real insight into the workings of the school. Please read all the information which was

sent out last week and I would urge you to seriously consider taking on this role.

Regards, Mr Ivor Morris (Chair of the Local Governing Body)

CAR PARKING AT THE FRONT OF SCHOOL IN THE MORNING AND AT THE END OF THE DAY. Please park with care at the front of school in the mornings and at the end of the school day! If any member of staff sees parents parking in these areas, we will take number plates and report these to the local CPOs.

FOOTPRINTS: Please also remember that we are encouraging the children to walk to school at the moment through the City Councils ‘Footprints’ initiative which the School Council are responsible for.

As we are now using the Class Dojo for rewards and

sanctions, we have had to make some changes to our

Behaviour Policy. The School Council have also been

helping to decide on our Rewards and Sanctions;

these are now up in classrooms.

The revised Behaviour Policy which is currently in

draft form, is on now on the school website.

Class teachers post photos from their class each

week. Many parents are signed up for the Dojo but

many are still not. On the Class Dojo you can also

track how many points your children are been given

each week.

If you wish to sign up to the DOJO, please complete

our Safe Use Contract with parents and your child’s

own Dojo login will be sent to you; please contact

your child’s class teacher for more information.

Please note the following days are booked for INSET (Staff Training) days for staff this year: Friday 13th January: (Grammar training for whole school with external provider) Friday 10th February: Multi Academy Trust Day Tuesday 25th July: Pupil Progress meetings for staff. School will close at the end of the school year on Monday 24th July with Awards Assembly @ 1:30.

ALTAR WINE: We will soon be moving to some new altar wine for a trial period. The reason is that some of the ladies who clean our purificators have noticed that the current wine we are using leaves stains which are very difficult to remove. The new altar wine is from South Africa, is fairly traded, so that we are supporting the developing world, and is organic. It is a white wine - altar wine can be either white or red. Canon Law does recommend to us that the wine used in Mass should be natural (without chemicals added and naturally fermented). Presumably this is so that it is as close as possible to the kind of wine Jesus would have used at the Last Supper. Fr. Matthew NOVEMBER THE MONTH OF HOLY SOULS: Just to remind you that we traditionally pray for the departed and have Masses offered for the repose of their souls in November. If you would like to have a Mass offered for a deceased loved one please speak to Fr. Matthew. Masses will be offered in general for the Holy Souls in November and for those who have requested a specific intention these will follow as soon as possible thereafter. PARISH BLESSING OF GRAVES this Sunday 6th November: At 2 pm we will have our parish blessing of graves at Carlton cemetery, jointly with Sacred Heart Parish. Please assemble on the flat area at the bottom of the cemetery for a short liturgy, then graves will be individually blessed. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Application forms for First Holy Communion are available in the church porch, or at school. The closing date for applications is 24 November 2016. YOUTH GROUP meet this Monday 7th November 7–9 pm. We look forward to seeing you there. Young people from Year 7 upwards are welcome. A reminder that If you are wanting to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation next year you need to come along to the Youth Group. There is a list in the church porch regarding Confirmation on which you are invited to write your name and contact number. SVP FOOD BANK is in particular need of: cereal – tea - coffee – tinned meat – tinned tuna - pasta sauces – biscuits - toilet rolls - detergents - cleaning materials.
