Temperatures are rising and the signs of spring are all

around. Welcome warmer weather with a walk in the Poconos!

The four-county region encompasses many scenic parks

and public trails perfect for hiking, biking, bird watching and

exploring.

Situated within the boundaries of the Delaware Water Gap

National Recreation Area, the Pocono Environmental Education

Center (PEEC) maintains 12 miles of hiking trails, with six paths

of varying distance and diffi culty. All trails begin and end on

PEEC’s campus and offer unique views of natural phenomena.

Walk through lush oak-hickory forests and shady hemlock

ravines on PEEC’s Ridgeline Trail! The picturesque path covers a

distance of 3.5 miles and offers glimpses of vernal wetlands.

PEEC’s Tumbling Waters Trail is a favorite among Pocono

hikers. The moderate three-mile course offers stunning views of

the Delaware Valley and Kittatinny Mountains in New Jersey. At

its midpoint, the trail meets a series of switchbacks that lead to

breathtaking waterfalls. Winding through hemlock, oak and pine

forests, the trail also guides visitors to Pickerel Pond about ten

minutes before its end.

Spring weather leads to increased water levels at many

Pocono waterways. Seek out roaring waterfalls and crystalline

cascades with PEEC! The Environmental Education Center will host a Spring Waterfalls hike on Saturday, April

6 from 1 to 3 p.m. All are welcome to join the fun and set out in search of these magnifi cent springtime sights.

Participation costs $20 per person. Van transportation is available by reservation. Guests should dress in warm layers,

wear sturdy footwear and bring a camera! Call (570) 828-2319 to register. Additional information is available online

at www.peec.org.

The Pocono Environmental Education Center is located on Emery Road in beautiful Dingmans Ferry,

Pennsylvania. Hiking trails are open to the public every day, all year long. Trail maps are available outside of PEEC’s

main building. Directions and additional information can be obtained at www.peec.org.
