Harmony Day Stories

My name is Vahideh I was born in Iran the fifth child in a family of 2 boys and 4 girls I grew up

in an average Iranian Muslim family Dad was an employee in the electricity company

My fondest childhood memories are spending time at our holiday house in the Iranian countryside

where we usually spent our 3 months summer holidays My grandparents also had a farm there

and I loved to spend time with them They grew almond walnut sour cherry and plum trees The

farm provided my grandparents with everything they needed to live I still remember picking

cucumbers and tomatoes and the smell and taste of the fresh produce There was no electricity or

water so we had to go to the river to wash everything and bring water home for drinking There

was only one public bath house in the area I had great affection for my grandparents who were

loving generous and caring people Honesty kindness to others and empathy were very important

values passed down to me from my family We were told to always help people and be grateful for

everything we were given Read More

2017 Zone Swimming

A 36 strong Wahroonga swim team headed to Hornsby Pool on Monday 6th March to compete

against the fourteen other zone schools The conditions werenrsquot ideal with a cool crisp breeze but

the buzz of excitement and nervous energy kept our swimmers warm From the start the Bush

School chant could be heard as Daniel L took the lead in the opening swim It was to be the first

of many wins as Daniel dominated his age group being named Junior Boys Age Champion Saskia

D followed up in the second event in exactly the same manner finishing first only being

challenged by Freya L another WPS swimmer Saskia continued on her winning way throughout

the day earning herself Junior Girls Age Champion

As the freestyle and other strokes started Wahroonga swimmers showed their strength and

determination as they placed in the top few in most events Alexander L was another strong

performer finishing second in most of his races He finished the day as Runner up Senior Boys Age

Champion

After the lunch break the relays infused more adrenaline into the spectators The Bush School

yellow and green caps featured at the front of the pack again and again a wonderful sight to see

At the conclusion of the day Wahroonga were awarded the trophy for being the champion school

This was a nice reward for the whole team who swam strongly across all events throughout the

day Congratulations to all 36 swimmers who contributed to the win

I was most impressed with the behaviour and team spirit displayed by each of our students Every

swimmer had a cheer squad urging them on willing them to do their personal best Each of the

36 swimmers were wonderful ambassadors of our great school

As with each event it cannot be successful without the support crew A special thanks to Mrs

Belinda Kellaway who managed the team so well ensuring every swimmer was in marshalling on

time Thank you to Mr Moth and Miss Kerr who attended the carnival as officials and a big thank

you to the Bush School parents who attended the day supported their children and assisted me

with the pack up and clean up at the conclusion of the carnival

When the senior citizens receive their lunch time meal it will be accompanied by a small Easter

egg and a home made card or note from the children of The Bush School

If you would like your child to participate in this program and perhaps bring a little joy to a senior

citizen living in our local community please send in a small Easter egg and home made card to

school with your child by Wednesday 5 April

The eggs will be collected in the office flyer or KGshy Mrs Grahamrsquos classroom I will deliver the

collection to Turramurra MealsshyonshyWheels on that day

and I loved to spend time with them They grew almond walnut sour cherry and plum trees The

farm provided my grandparents with everything they needed to live I still remember picking

cucumbers and tomatoes and the smell and taste of the fresh produce There was no electricity or

water so we had to go to the river to wash everything and bring water home for drinking There

was only one public bath house in the area I had great affection for my grandparents who were

Easter Eggs for our Citizens

It has been a very longshystanding tradition at Wahroonga Public School to support our local

community Each year the children are encouraged to bring an Easter egg to school for our local

senior citizens The Easter eggs are then donated to Kuringshygai MealsshyonshyWheels at Turramurra

The eggs will be collected in the office flyer or KGshy Mrs Grahamrsquos classroom I will deliver the

collection to Turramurra MealsshyonshyWheels on that day

in an average Iranian Muslim family Dad was an employee in the electricity company

and I loved to spend time with them They grew almond walnut sour cherry and plum trees The

farm provided my grandparents with everything they needed to live I still remember picking

cucumbers and tomatoes and the smell and taste of the fresh produce There was no electricity or
