Chairman, Organizing Committee, POEM 2nd Scientific Conference

Associate Professor, Department of Oncology, Yerevan State Medical

University

It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to join the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean (POEM) Group 2nd Scientific Conference entitled "Towards Global Equity in Childhood Cancer Care". The Conference will take a place in Yerevan, Armenia on February 9-10, 2019.

World-known experts in pediatric cancer from the United States, Europe, and East and Mediterranean region through the multidisciplinary talks will present the latest advancements in the field and will share their experience and knowledge with the participants from more than 23 countries and 76 pediatric cancer centers. Besides the main Scientific Conference, the participants will have a chance also to join the pre-conference workshops on February 7 and 8 (palliative care, nutrition and nursing) led by international leaders and meet-the-professor morning sessions for the early career professionals.

The two-day Palliative Care workshop will be expertly led by the POEM’s Palliative

Care Working Group and international leaders in Palliative Care – Dr Justin Baker and Karen Williams, and will be taught using the world renowned EPEC-Pediatric curriculum. Topics include: what is pediatric palliative care and why does it matter, multimodal analgesia, acute pain management, non-pain symptom management (dyspnea, GI symptoms, neurologic symptoms, etc.), preparation for imminent death, grief and bereavement.

The registration to the conference and workshops is FREE. The registration deadline is January 15, 2019.

Best abstract winners will receive a travel award to participate in the conference and the pre-conference workshops. The abstract submission deadline is December 31, 2018.

Looking forward to seeing you soon in Armenia
