Our Lady of the Snows

Holy Hour

November 12, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Come and take 5 minutes, 15 minutes or 60 minutes, - or anything in-between -

simply for some quiet time.

It is an opportunity to reflect, meditate or contemplate

in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD We are nearing the end of the liturgical year. Today’s readings remind us that our own lives will draw to a close one day, and we can be certain that the Lord will encour-age, strengthen, and save us—both now and at the last. The astonishing story of the Maccabees invigorates our faith as we behold an entire family willing to die rather than deny the Law of Moses. The psalm response echoes the faithful cries of the Maccabees: “I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God.” That same confidence appears in Saint Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians. “The Lord is faithful,” he testifies; “he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” In the Gospel, Jesus explains just how long God’s protection will endure. The children of God whom God guards, Jesus says, will live forever like angels. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

RCIA FOR CHILDREN

On Sunday, November 24, the parish celebrates the Rite Acceptance at Mass for the young people in the RCIA-for-Children process. This rite is called "of the utmost importance…. ..Assembling publicly for the first time the candidates who have completed the first period … declare their intention to the Church and the Church in turn, carrying out its apostolic mission, accepts them as persons who intend to become its members.... certain liturgical rites are needed in order to strengthen them in the Christian life....the Christian community should also help these

(children) by its love and prayer."

We welcome two young people to their new relationship with the Church. Canon law says that children over the ‘age of reason,’ (about age 7) must be prepared for, and receive, the three sacraments of initiation at a single time, the way adults do. These young people began preparing for baptism, confirmation, and first Eucharist in fall of 2018. They will be fully initiated during the Easter season, 2020.

NEW ADVENT SERIES - WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Women of Snows, you will love this group! We began a six-week Advent series in November, providing an opportunity to deepen our understanding of scripture, while preparing our hearts to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Please join us, or feel free to stop in to see what it’s like. You will not be disappointed. We blend scripture study with faith sharing, and the Holy Spirit is active in every meeting.

We meet on Mondays from 9:30-10:30 am in the Parish Center. We will be discussing the book "Gaze Upon Jesus: Experiencing Christ's Childhood through the Eyes of Women" by Kelly Wahlquist. Books are available at the parish office and cost $12.

Grab a book and join us! If you have questions, please contact Stacy at 846-3180 or [email protected], or Sandra at 772-2103.

NOTE: NO BIBLE STUDY ON VETERANS DAY, NOVEMBER 11.
