A Faithful Note from Father Kevin

Stewardship of Treasure “For it is in giving that we receive”

~Eucharistic Adoration~ This is a weekly one hour face-to-face appointment with Jesus in the

Blessed Sacrament Chapel. If you have a variable schedule, substitute adorers are always needed.

Adoration is held Mon- Fri 5am-10pm, Sat 5am-5pm, Sun 3-10pm. Call Debbie Harrelson for more

information at 714-9393. Adorers are needed for Mon noon & 2pm; Wed 6am; Thursday 1pm, & 4pm;

Sat noon.

Today we celebrate with Rose candles and vestments, with songs and prayers, the true power of Joy as it belongs to our relationship with God. Each year on the third Sunday of Advent we acknowledge that as easy as it will be to rejoice on the Feast of Christmas, we desire to exercise true joy in all circumstances. Today’s celebration, Gaudete Sunday, gets its name from the Entrance Antiphon, “Rejoice…”. However, I would draw our attention today to the Collect:

“O God, who see how your people faithfully await the feast of the Lord’s Nativity, enable us, we pray, to attain the joys of so great a salvation and to celebrate them always with solemn worship and glad rejoicing.” This prayer acknowledges that we are not at Christmas yet, that we are faithfully waiting for His coming. But that waiting cannot be without light, since we enjoy even now the knowledge of the gift of salvation. So, we ask for the help of God’s grace offer a fitting response of solemn worship, that is, deep worship that draws together the bursting joy of the Lord’s Nativity and the fullness of love. Our waiting is not without Hope. Our waiting is eager and bending toward the fullness of grace that is to come.

“Using God's Gifts, Doing God's Work”

A Stewardship Thought

Forward in Faith Prayer Heavenly Father, we thank you for all your blessings and for what you enable us to accomplish at Sacred Heart. By your

grace, may we move forward in faith, trusting that you will supply our every need in Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns

with you and the Holy Spirit. We pray through the intercession of Mary, our Mother. Amen.

"Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” ~1 THESSALONIANS 5:16 -18

This scripture reading sums up Stewardship. “Rejoice always” means place your trust in God; He will provide all that you need. “Pray constantly” means prayer should be a running conversation with God throughout the whole day, every day. “Give thanks in all circumstances” means even in bad situations, thank God. Suffering a little bit helps build empathy for others in similar situations.

Forward in Faith Last weekend was Commitment Weekend for our Forward in Faith Capital Campaign to pay

down the debt for our new facilities. If you would like to make a pledge IT’S NOT TOO LATE!! Every pledge is appreciated, big or

small. If you need a Commitment Card, contact the office. We’ll be glad to see that you get one. Thank you!

This week we are going to take time to thank God as we look back on our progress and our growth over the

year. We need to make sure that we are still moving through the steps and principles, that we are not hung up on a particular one.

Some of us may have just begun the journey through the principles. Others are somewhere in the middle. It really doesn’t matter which one we’re on. Anyone can get off track and stuck. So, we are going to look at seven of the most common reasons we get “stuck” in our recoveries, and how to deal with them.

To learn more, please join us this Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the PAC cafeteria. Safe place, no mask, no judgement, complete confidentiality.

-Padre Kevin
