What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?Whilst we worked on our three ancillary products our main aim was clarity within the audience about the marketing package we were trying go create and the chosen genre of horror, as well as our sub-genre of human monster. After creating the final media marketing package, we were able to check how appealing it was to the audiences in which we are trying to target, as we were able to set up a questionnaire in order to get a clear understanding of their thoughts of our product. This enabled us to measure how effective we were in creating our marketing package. For our questionnaire 9carried out on http://www.surveymonkey.com)we was able to get 50 participants to answer, In order to have a large range of responses to analyse (Quantitative Data.) We also uploading our products on popular social media sites, such as twitter, Instagram and Facebook, in order to gain feedback from mainly our target audience and receive responses and opinions written by these (known as qualitative data).

Analysing our feedback from the survey, it is obvious that we successfully portrayed the horror genre through our trailer as 94% of our participants were able to select the right genre of. This feedback portrays that we effectively connoted the genre using the forms and conventions of a typical horror. In addition to this, aspects of human monster is evidentially reflect throughout the sequence. however 4% that suggested this was partly a thriller is also a vital piece of information for us , as although the trailer was of the Horror genre, we did also use typical conventions of a thriller like, mystery and suspense for example in particular shots, the masked villain is never revealed to the audience, and the audience are also unaware of what has happened to Charlotte, which creates a mystery and suspense, but these are also key elements of the horror genre , as leaving the audience on a cliff-hanger, leaves the audience more intrigued and wanted to know what is going to happen in the whole film.Analysing our feedback from the survey, it is obvious that we successfully portrayed the horror genre through our trailer as 94% of our participants were able to select the right genre of. Analysing all aspects which impacted greatly on our trailer, as the narrative being portrayed is a key point in creating a successful trailer and appealing to our audience. During the production we wanted clarity in the narrative, this was done by introducing the characters within the first act and the environment, as well as the storyline .within the next two acts that Charlotte has gone missing by a masked villain, and her father seeks out to find her. Additionally using the three act structure created use a base to follow. After audience feedback, expressed that we was successful in constructing the narrative throughout the trailer, as 98% of participants selected that the narrative was clearly represented to them. Therefore we were effective in producing a trailer of the horror genre. however 2% of individuals did not find this trailer was clear and precise, in understandable due to the fact that Charlotte is presented as a victim through the first and the second act, as her dad shows her no love, and she is brutally kidnapped, but however, within the ending, the last quick shot is shown of charlotte is a different light, she is no longer the victim, rather villainess, which may cause confusion. However for the majority it is a clear outline and we have been able to provide clarity within out trailer, and therefore the narrative throughout has been successfully obtained.

We were able to appeal to the target audience as 100% selected the age was 15-24 year olds. Which was what we were mainly aiming to target. This may be because of the construction of character with charlotte being a young teenage girl many young teenage align themselves with her. As well as this the trailer presents family struggles therefore appeals to wide range of people , as many of the older generation find it hard to connect with the younger generation just like it is presented in our trailer. However after reflecting post production, I have concluded that our trailer could appeal to the different age ranges because of this for example like I said the older generation. in addition, as although the survey suggests different, the upload on Facebook it showed that older, yet younger generation are interested , as they all commented their opinion enabling a wide range of accurate feedback of all demographics. Therefore this suggests that we are able to appeal to a much wider audience of all age group if we wanted. And therefore have effective overall.

Our target audience that answered the questions believed that that amount if setting and locations we used was extremely effective. Within our research and planning we decided that the main location in which we were going to film our trailer in was the normal suburban house in order for the film to be carried out in a realistic setting with a realistic normal family lifestyle being portrayed. We also decided to use other setting which were more isolated, like Banstead woods and the Croydon airfields as well as public busy locations like the waterloo bridge. The use of numerous locations enabled us to effectively show a shift in narrative and act. After analysing before I go to sleep that also had numerous settings which we believed was extremely effective an therefore used it in the same way. We also liked the idea of the multiple locations they used within the montage and therefore we were also inspired by this idea in order to use setting to portray time is running out and chaos ( a sense of panic) the three locations we used within this part, was the house where carol received body parts, the woods where mark is looking for charlotte and at the very end the waterloo bridge highlighting charlottes real location at that time

Within the research and planning stage, we thought long and hard on a effective title that would conform to the horror genre as well as reflecting the narrative at the same time. Looking at the feedback it is evident that the title the final plea appealed to the whole of our target market. Meaning that they think the name fits in perfectly with the storyline. But also shows that we are able to (using the title) link to the sub genre of human monster, as the title suggest that someone is begging for something. However the audience are unaware of what this might be therefore this is an effective title as it also is able to create mystery

Looking at the audience feedback it is evident that we are able to appeal to the wider audience seeing as 100% said they would like to go see the film. As well as this we also receive qualitative feedback, which came back extremely positive as many asked if we had actually made the film and if so can they watch it. Therefore I believe that the overall trailer was a success and of an extremely high standard

Whilst we put together our poster, we had to make sure that it conformed to the horror genre. For example using specific colours like black and red, we decided to use throughout. We used black as the background and red as the tagline. This helped represent horror through this as the colour black is associated with elements such as darkness and evil and red is associated with elements like red and danger. All these elements are main themes which are present within the horror genre. We took inspiration from the film poster Annabelle as we used a close up half image of the mask in the same way which gave a sinister feel as half the identity is hidden. Therefore this is probably the reason why we got 100% of positive feedback from the audience say the poster was effective in conveying the horror genre. This is extremely helpful piece of information as we knew then that our poster fit well with the other two products as a horror package.

Analysing the feedback from the survey monkey , it is clear that there were extremely impressed with the magazine as they thought it was very effective in promoting our film (100%). The magazine electric sheep is a magazine I which promotes independent films and therefore as perfect to use in order to promote our film. Therefore to make our cover original we decided to make it monochrome which I believe was very effective.
