    Bruce Wellman is Co-Developer of The Adaptive School as well as Co-Director of MiraVia LLC. He consults with school systems, professional groups and organizations throughout the United States, Canada, and internationally presenting workshops and courses for teachers and administrators on the patterns and practices of learning-focused classrooms, learning-focused conversations for supervisors and mentors, presentation skills and facilitating and developing collaborative groups.

    Mr. Wellman is an award-winning writer whose work has been honored by the Education Writers Association and the National Staff Development Council. He is the author and co-author of numerous publications related to organization and professional development, mentoring, quality teaching and improving professional cultures.

    Mr. Wellman has served as a classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, and staff developer in the Oberlin, Ohio and Concord, Massachusetts public schools. He holds a B.A. degree from Antioch College and a M.Ed. from Lesley College.

    Carol Brooks Simoneau, EdD, is Co-Director of Thinking Collaborative, the umbrella company for Adaptive Schools and Cognitive Coaching®. Carol graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She earned a Master of Science Degree with a Reading Specialist endorsement and an Educational Administration and Leadership endorsement from Kansas State University. Carol earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership from Kansas State University.

    Carol has over 20 years experience as a teacher and reading specialist with students of all ages. As a reading specialist, she modeled instructional strategies in the classroom and worked with students in intervention programs created to prevent reading failure. She has also chaired or served as a member on school improvement and accreditation teams designed to develop school community and facilitate achievement. Carol has received the Kansas State Department of Education Distinguished Educator Award. She is the author of A Facilitator’s Guide to On-line Professional Development: Establishing Communities of Learning and Cultures of Thinking.

    Jane Ellison

    Doreen Miori-Merola is Co-Director, Thinking Collaborative and a private consultant with M2 Coaching & Consulting. Doreen was an English teacher for over 38 years, and she taught everything from academic intervention to advanced placement. She has a B.S. from State University of New York at Oswego in English/secondary education, did graduate work in diagnostic and prescriptive reading, and received an M.S. in English Education Advanced Study from Syracuse University. As the English Language Arts Content Specialist for the Solvay Union Free School District – a teacher leadership role – she was in charge of curriculum, assessment, data analysis, professional development, facilitation, mentoring, and AIS for grades 4 through 12. Doreen is a Training Associate for Cognitive Coaching℠, Adaptive Schools, and Habits of Mind. Doreen has presented workshops on six continents. Doreen considers herself to be extremely fortunate to be mentored by Art Costa, Bena Kallick, Bob Garmston and Michael Dolcemascolo. Doreen holds memberships in ASCD, NCTE, Learning Forward and other professional organizations.

    Jane Ellison, EdD, is Director Emeritus of Thinking Collaborative. She presents workshops nationally and internationally to educators on Cognitive CoachingSM, Adaptive Schools, change and transition, presentation skills, facilitation skills and quality professional development. She is co-author of Cognitive Coaching: Weaving Threads of Learning and Change into the Culture of an Organization; Effective School Leadership: Developing Principals with Cognitive Coaching; and a contributing author to the 3rd Edition of Cognitive Coaching: A Foundation for Renaissance Schools. Jane is a former elementary teacher, principal and director, who now lives in Denver. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and Social Sciences from SMU, a M.Ed. in Elementary Supervision from the University of North Texas, and an EdD. in Administration from VPI&SU, Blacksburg, Virginia. Her experience includes work in public schools in Texas, West Virginia, Illinois and Colorado; teaching graduate classes in South America; attending Principals’ Institutes at Columbia and Harvard Universities; and chairing the Board of Directors of the Principal’s Center at the University of Colorado, Denver. She was trained with Gallup as a Teacher and Principal Perceiver Specialist.

    James L. Roussin has worked as an assistant superintendent, language arts teacher, ESL coordinator and adjunct professor. He is currently the executive director for Generative Learning, a consulting practice focused on healthy organizations and human development through the lens of natural systems theory and complexity science. http://www.generative-learning.com

    Jim has also served as a teaching associate for Human Systems Dynamics (an institute using complexity theory to influence organizational effectiveness). Jim facilitates learning in the following areas: Leadership Development, Strategic Planning, Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools and Program Evaluation.

    Kendall Zoller, EdD, is an author, educator, researcher, and international presenter in communicative intelligence, presentation and facilitation skills, leadership and adaptive schools. He is co-author of The Choreography of Presenting: The 7 Essential Abilities of Effective Presenters (Corwin Press, 2010) and president of Sierra Training Associates. He has authored over three dozen reviewed book chapters and journal articles on topics of communication, community, and leadership for educators and law enforcement. His work on leadership and presentation skills takes him to schools, districts, universities, state agencies, and corporations across the United States, Canada, Europe, China, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines. His lectures, presentations, and paper presentations include the campuses of Harvard, UC Berkeley, St. Anselm College, Boston University, University of Chicago, and Loyola University Maryland.     Ochan Kusuma-Powell, EdD, is the Director of Education Across Frontiers, an organization dedicated to the professional learning of international school educators. She also serves on the Design Team for The Next Frontier Inclusion – a non-profit organization devoted to supporting international schools in becoming more inclusive of students with special learning needs. Ochan has presented numerous workshops and courses in the areas of differentiation, assessment, teacher emotional intelligence, coaching and collaboration. She has been a trainer for the Teacher Training Center (TTC) and is an Associate Trainer for Cognitive CoachingSM and Adaptive Schools. She holds a doctorate from Columbia University. Together with her husband Bill, Ochan co-authored Count Me In! Developing Inclusive International Schools (2000), Making the Difference: Differentiation in International Schools (2008), Becoming an Emotionally Intelligent Teacher (2010), How to Teach Now: Five Keys to Personalized Learning in the Global Classroom (2012), The OIQ Factor: Raising the Organizational Intelligence of your school (2013) and Teacher Self-Supervision: Why teacher evaluation is a failed system and what we can do about it (2015). Ochan’s current research, together with the Inter-Community School of Zurich, is on the development of teacher and student metacognition.
