1 Demonstration scale fixed-bed

heat storage unit for the investiga-

tion of dust exposure effects.

Dependentontheprocess,wasteheatis

oftenproducednotonaconstant,but

onafluctuatinglevel.Especiallyinenergy

intensiveindustrialsectors,considerable

amountsofwasteheatwithapotentially

usabletemperaturelevelareproduced.

Newinnovativeconceptsenablethecon-

versionofthiswasteheattohigh-quality

processenergy,therebyincreasingthe

overallenergyefficiency.

Thermalstorageunitsmakeuseofboth

sensitiveheatandthephasechangeenergy

ofselectedmaterials.Theyareherebyable

toproduceatemporaldecoupledand

constantheatflowforvaryingdurations,

therebymatchingheatsupplyrequirements

ofprocesses.Theheatflowgeneratedby

thestoragesystemcanforexamplebe

usedforthegenerationofprocesssteamor

forpowergenerationinacombinedheat

andpowerprocess.

cycles.Basedonthedefinedrequirements

profile,potentialstoragematerialsare

definedandinformationregardingthe

availabilityandpricelevelofthesubstances
