There’s no time left….. [Disclaimer:All the characters in this story are fictitious.The writer is solely ‘not’ responsible for any of its consequences.] “Hurry up! Come on friends!Quick..there isn’t much time left.We should walk faster” ,exclaimed Ajay,who was always as fast as a lightening. He always lead the group. “We have extremely little time. If we don’t hurry, It would become disastrous” agreed Rhea. They were a group of six.Ajay, Rhea, Anurag, Sudha, Nandita and Ashwath.They were taking up their toughest journey ever. Really tough, but they believed they could just do it! They knew that they had to cross numerous obstacles. But they never gave up. Great determination! “Can you all please walk a little slower….please”, begged Anurag(Anu).The previous day, he had taken bath in cold water in the morning (because he woke up late and had gone 0.25 seconds late to the bathroom….no hot water! Also he had missed his break fast and felt even sicker) and was now on a verge of getting fever. “I can’t walk fast people. My body aches terribly..Please”,he cried again. “You need to understand Anu”,just a few metres more. Just think what will happen if we don’t hurry…we’ll regret later. It’s a ‘do or die’ situation” said Ashwath. Sudha held Anurag’s hand and tried to help him walk faster.Poor Anu…he only felt more pain as she clenched his hand…yet,he managed to cope up with the speed of the group. It was getting gloomy and darker…the black clouds gathered and birds were returning to their nests.Humid and cool breeze brushed their dusty and tired faces.A huge downpour was expected. Ajay reminded others of their plan again,”Listen everybody…Its 12:10 now..we are already late. But it’s ok..we’ll try to make up.We will be reaching there in another five minutes.Sudha,Rhea and Nandita will be down.Anurag,Ashwath and I will go up…as usual..ok…Anu..don’t tell you can’t climb up..we have to..there’s no other go..We’ll try to f inish our task as soon as possible..else we would get caught and invite trouble.If the girls come out early,they’ll wait for the boys..and boys..its the same for us..ok..We’ll start f rom there immediately at 12:25.Even a minute’s delay could be harmful… clear?” All nodded their heads.As planned,they reached there in 5 minutes.It was an old two storey building. The boys ran up straightaway and the girls entered the ground floor.It had started raining by then. In few minutes, the boys and girls came out simultaneously, after completing their jobs. Rhea was almost in tears as she came out. She felt fire burning in her stomach.It was exactly 12:22.

“Can we wait for a while?It’s raining heavily.Let it get a little lesser” asked skinny Anu as he
sneezed…hachooooo…..Ashwath wiped the tiny droplets off his spectacles. Thanks to Anu’s
ultrasonic sneeze.
“Yes. Lets wait for a few minutes. Poor Anu” said Nandita alias Nandu, being very considerate
All agreed to wait for another 3 minutes. Ajay was getting tensed, but he had to stay. He kept
looking at his watch every tenth second.
The rain didn’t get lesser..it only got worser and worser.Ajay lost his patience. “Let’s start movi
people.We need to reach before it gets even worser.Anu..please adjust..I’m really sorry that you
aren’t well..but…I hope you understand”
Anu thought of catastrophic consequences he and his dear friends would be facing if they delay
He stepped out first and all started their journey back.
It had become completely black.They walked straight and then went right.They first crossed asmall canal.It was overflowing with rainwater. They all walked swiftly.The path was sloppy.The
walked through the trees on both the sides and there was a vast ground adjoining it.Ashwath had
always dreamt of playing there..that has never been possible until now.
Sudha checked the time.It was 12.28.She screamed the time out with great shock.”People
RUN!!We are terribly late.”
They reached their destination (source) at exactly 12:30:54.
“May we come in,Sir?”they asked as they stood outside their CSE-A second year classroom.
“Why you all come 54 seconds late to class aah?After lunch,you sud come at 12:30 AM,ok yaa?
Half an hour,not enough to eat aah?You all eat nicely chicken biryani....but come to class
lately.What da?You are in RMD for
one and a half years…don’t know now also aah?. You all don’t enter the class. Stand out.”he
screamed very ‘politely’,wiping sweat from his forehead.Sudha thought ,its Wednesday…chick
fry and not chicken biryani....perhaps he didn’t have lunch.
They saw each others’ faces helplessly…while Ashwath was staring at his lecturer’s tie...17th
consecutive time..he muttered
[P.S #1: Please don’t think too logically and question me how 3 girls and 3 boys could form a
group. My imagination ran a little too wild! Sorry..
