The legend

The legendThe story begins with the Jalisco indigenous people, seeking shelter in a cave as a result of a storm. Then lightening struck a field of agaves and the plants burned for several hours. When the storm passed, the wind carried toward the neighbors a pleasant aroma. One of them took a piece of burnt agave, finding it sweet and tasty, it was offered to the others thus discovering the usefulness of the plant.They forgot the agave juice for several days and when they returned to the hut, they discovered a new scent that enveloped the atmosphere. After looking carefully at the juice, they observed some small bubbles that formed a thick white foam. They tried it, finding it rich and with distinct flavor. The beverage caused some personality changes on them, hence the liquid was considered of divine origin.Aztecs believed tequila was a gift from the Gods, so it was allowed only to hierarchy and priests. Don Cuata was developed with this concept in mind, offering a truly best in class product. An exclusive drink with unique flavor and exquisiteness.

Class with Tradition

Tequila Don Cuata goes back in time. The harvest and crop of the Agaves takes place only when the stars are in a specific alignment, "according to the ancient Aztec". They followed the traditional "hand picking" of the mature 9 year old agaves, discarding those not suitable for such a top quality product and letting them die with honor in the same land of their birth. The piñas are then slowly cooked in a traditional volcanic rock oven, allowing an exquisite mix of scents to combine. The fermentation process takes place allowing mother nature to work wisely and slowly over the agave juice. No yeast nor chemicals are added to this process. Our tequila rests in white oak barrels, waiting to be awakened and to fulfill its ultimate purpose. To be the best!

The InspirationGustavo Cuata, a Mexican Entrepreneur and Tequila Aficionado was eager to recover the genuine Mexican tradition of such a mystical beverage, allowing the world to share a Best in Class Tequila, normally available only for the high class society in Mexico.The goal was to reflect the elegance, sophistication and distinction of a true premium tequila, allowing the consumer to relate these characteristics to the fineness of the Mexican ancestry families, the high class Mexican "Charreria“ and the beauty of a hard working land. The new brand would be a quality option for those looking to enjoy a true tequila and not just follow the current trends.Once the recipe was ready, after more than 4 years of hard work and just before deciding the final touches of the bottle´s design, Don Cuata, a prominent surgeon and Gustavo´s father, died. The unfortunate loss of his father makes Gustavo stop the project for a while. After one year of this sad event, Gustavo decides to bring his brand alive; the design and the clean lines of the bottle, its simplicity and yet it's strong presence are the inspiration of a true gentleman´s personality, a man who did it his own way, like his father and now himself.

The Inspiration

The Logo "floats“ on the upper body of the bottle, as a symbol of hard work and persistence. A resemblance of a man who started from below and not only made it to the top, but stayed there.Don Cuata was created for those Conoisseurs in need for something different, those willing to create trends instead of following them and those living their own way.
