As an intimate, inclusive Jewish community in northern Westchester, we strive to provide a warm, Jewish home for our members and their families. We believe in equality, diversity, and inclusion as religious principles. We welcome everyone equally irrespective of gender, ability, race, age, sexual orientation, religious background, or economic status. At Temple Beth Am’s Religious School, we are committed to creating the finest Jewish learning environment possible and building warm and caring relationships with our students and families. Our educators provide a fun and meaningful Jewish learning experience for children, teens, and parents, helping everyone become a lifelong learner. Our Special Needs Coordinator works with the Education Director, teachers, parents, and children to create learning environments and experiences that meet the needs of every child. From kindergarten through high school, we have programs for children of every age. Our monthly Parent Education Sessions also offer our
adults the opportunity to engage in discussions on a wide variety of topics. Life Stages with our rabbi, Robbie Weiner, are also included in being a member of our congregation. Whether you’re preparing for the happiest of events with a B’nai Mitzvah or the most solemn with a funeral, our rabbi and the entire congregation will be with you during every step. We also offer programs for all ages, including Torah Study, Men’s Club, and Sisterhood for adults, and special Tot Shabbat programs for our very youngest members. Our adult events include everything from movie-and-pizza nights and outings in New York City to discussions on new books and current events. Many of our programs (including all Friday night Shabbat services) are open to the public. Visit our website at templebetham-ny.org for a full schedule, or you can follow us on Facebook, or on Twitter (@TempleBethAmNY). On July 17, the Chamber awarded six $1,500 and one $2,500 (Constance C. Petri) Scholarship to local high school seniors at our Scholarship Awards Dinner. Thank you to the co-sponsors of this event, Doug Petri of A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corp, Paul and Gina Dipaterio of Little Sorrento Restaurant and Marc and Sheryl Saidel of Saidel and Saidel, P.C. who also co-chaired the Scholarship Committee. We wish all the students success in their future endeavors. On behalf of the Chamber we thank all our members who contributed throughout the year to this great cause.
Our Networking meeting at Vape Escape was very well attended, giving all who came a chance to see what a new business is all about. Please mark your calendars for our evening networking meeting on September 18 at O’Grady’s Public House. Here’s an interesting fact: According to the Korn Ferry Futurestep Survey of 1,815 executives, 77% of executives say networking is the most important part of their job.
This year, on September 12, we will host our Member Appreciation Night with a dinner at Frankie & Augie’Z Ristorante in Jefferson Valley. This year’s honorees are: Anne Gotzen, Chamber volunteer, Genesis Macedo, Genesis Pro Painting, Doug Petri, A.S.A. P. Mortgage Corp, Maria Quesada, Six Diamond Tree Service and Opie Rodriguez, NY Life insurance. Please reserve early by calling Margaret Primavera at 914-245-4599 or email [email protected]. Cost: $40pp.
Excitement is starting to percolate for the 9th Annual Chamber of Commerce Festival and Street Fair. Each year we work hard to make it better than the year before so call in with your exhibit
booth reservation and think about displaying a flag with your company name on Commerce Street in the center of Yorktown.
Please avail yourselves of a great marketing opportunity: Log on to www.yorktownchamber.org to promote your business on our new LED sign at the corner of Routes 202 and 118 in the middle of town.
Reading this newsletter each month provides you a window in what and how the Chamber is working on your behalf. Look at the calendar of events and see our busy schedule that we offer our members. We ask you to recruit members and support our sponsorships. Our goal is to grow this Chamber with varied and exciting members.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and please be safe.
As always my door is open to all members with any concerns or suggestions.
