Theme Collage For this activity you will complete a collage which demonstrates your understanding of one of your novel's themes. To create the collage, use a sheet of construction paper or poster board. You will also need access to pictures and words from magazines and/or the computer. Directions for completing the collage: In a prominent position on your paper, put the topic leading to your theme. For example, in the story "The Homed Toad," the topic could be "family." Below the topic, you should put your theme statement. The theme statement is a sentence which expresses the point being made about the topic. For example, a possible theme statement for "The Homed Toad" might be, "When you're family, you take care of your own." If possible, try to include on the collage a quote or two taken from the novel that support your theme statement. The remainder of the collage should consist of pictures and words that illustrate and symbolize the topic and theme statement. On the bottom corner of the collage, include the title of your book (underlined or in italics) and the author. Date Due: _________________________________________
