The Irish-Italian dinner at the Parish Center was a great success.And thank you to all the Knights, Columbiettes, Religious Ed and the young men from the former Squires who helped set up and break down.Thanks to Deacon Sonny who made this come about.

The next Bingo will be April 4th . Check your work times, in the Good Knight News. If you can't make it, please call so that someone can fill in for you.

Before you know it, the election of officers will be on June 11th at the business meeting. Any Knight wishing to run for any position, let LenLaRocca and Dan Lavardera know and they will put you on the ballot.The Candidates have to be read in at the business meeting. And postedinto the Good Knight News. So far we have 2 positions vacant.Chancellor, Warden, and maybe a Trustee. So give it some thought.Flooring nominations can be taken at the meetings.

To be a Member you must be a Qualified Member who supports theideals of Columbianism; Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practical Catholics with the HolySee. A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and theprecepts of Church. One of the precepts governing the administration of the Knightsof Columbus is for ALL members to be qualified through the Virtus training program. Participants not adhering to this mandatory precept will be considered asmarginal members of the Knights of Columbus. Rest assured that this mandate isnot taken lightly. The Diocese of Rockville Centre led by Bishop John O. Barres hasprovided Virtus training to more the 15,700 church personnel and volunteers. If youare a practical Catholic who has expressed your desire to be a member of the Knightsof Columbus, you fall into the category of church personnel and volunteer.

For a Council to develop its organizational capabilities and integration of objectives,there must be a “commitment to cause” on each Knights part. Understanding thateach individual is challenged by everyday tasks, it is through your sincere effortsthat success will continue here at Mother Cabrini Council. Rewards for outstandingservice have been noted and the elected officials have decided to reward those whohave excelled in their dedication to our principles of charity, unity, fraternity andpatriotism. Those actively participating in the majority of events will be furnishedwith amenities in direct proportion to all that they do. Those underachieving in supporting by donating their time and effort to the Councils events such as Bingo,Irish/Italian Dinner, Spaghetti Dinner, visiting the Veterans at Stony Brook on thethird week of the month, to name a few, will be considered minimal participants andwill not be considered for the amenities afforded to the active participants.

2018 Scholarships

1) The Suffolk Chapter:

Financial Grant - Student must be attending a Catholic High School. Four (4) financial grants will be awarded. Students may be freshman, sophomore, junior or senior. The amounts of the awards are one (1) for $1000 and three (3) for $500. Awards are based on financial need. Deadline May 1, 2018

Scholarship - Student must be attending a Catholic Hight School. Four (4) scholarships will be awarded. The scholarship is a onetimeaward and is available only to an incoming freshman. Scholarship amounts are one (1) for $1000 and three (3) for $500. Deadline May 15, 2018.

2) The Council’s Scholarships:

Three (3) from the Knights and one (1) from the Columbiettes.

Each will be $1000

Advertise in the Parish bulletin on Apr 29th, May 6th, May 13th and May 20th.

Deadline for application is May 23rd

To be awarded at the June 11th business meeting.

Message from Retention Chairman

Third Notices of Dues payments have been sent out. The number of members who still have not sent out their Dues is 9% of our membership. Please send your Dues in, so we do not have to

proceed with suspensions.

Also, many members have not completed Virtus Training. Contact the website DRVC.com and follow the instructions.

Give your completion certificate to either Rich Gallagher or Peter Menga.

The Suffolk County Charity Drive has started.Brother Ernie Pennino will be sending out one (1) Book

to each member. The cost is $10.00 per book. Five dollars goesto the Chapter and five dollars to the Council Operating Account.
