February 25, 2012 - 2011-2012 Basketball Reception The W Club partnered with the Offices of Institutional Advancement & Alumni Relations on February 25, 2012 at Erickson Alumni Center with a reception to honor the 2011-2012 men's and women's basketball teams. Student athletes, coaches, alumni, faculty, staff, WVSU retirees and friends enjoyed a special evening with celebrating and saluting these talented fine young men and women!

Peter Lewis, Class of 1964 Apple Ridge Farm, an organization dedicated to providing outdoor and educational experiences for under-served youth in Roanoke, VA, has been selected to be a participant in The Greenbrier Charity Weekend March 16th & 17th at Greenbrier Resort in WV. Hughie Mills, Class of 1949 Alumnus Hughie Mills, ’49, has once again been honored by the Columbia Business School (CBS). The Black Business Student Association (BBSA) Community Service team at Columbia Business School has partnered with the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center, to create a small business outreach program for local Harlem businesses. Named the Hughie Mills Business Academy (HMBA), the program teaches business plan preparation and conceptualization.

Rev. Donald Robinson, Class of 1974 Beacon House, a non-profit, community based organization that provides tutoring, mentoring, cultural, athletic, recreational and nutritional programs to at-risk children, ages 5-18, who reside in and around the Edgewood Terrace community in Ward 5 of Washington, D.C., was recently featured on WUSA’s Hero Central. The organization, founded by WVSU alumnus Rev. Donald Robinson, Class of 1974, assists at-risk youth to identify and pursue educational objectives that culminate in college or vocational training, and, more generally, to prepare them for productive involvement in their community and society. 21st National Alumni Conference May 3-6, 2012

WVSU National Alumni Association – 21st National Alumni Conference The 21st National Alumni Conference will be held in Philadelphia, PA May 3-6, 2012. WVSUNAA National Conferences are designed to provide opportunities for Alumni to dialogue with University administrators, staff, students, friends and each other around strategies to support our University (i.e. student recruitment, membership development, and fundraising). Highlights include presentations by the University, recognition of Distinguished Alumni, and 110% Chapter Awards. Full registration is $150 (includes all conference activities). Philadelphia Airport Marriott is the Conference hotel
